Your Cue Stick History?

My current player is a Schon STL17 that I got in trade from Bamacues here on AZB for a SWEET Mike Sigel cue. Where my cue came from before that I have no idea, but whomever gave it up is REALLY sorry cause It is the 2nd best player I have had in 20 years. The best player was a Black Boar.....and my Schon is at least 90% as good.....if not better!
with a few try outs here n there ,but I wish to God I had every one of them back!!!:D

And THIS...is why I don't sell my cues anymore...I only BUY

*The first cue I got(Which I still use) is a cheap Fury. I found it with a free case and a discount. With shipping and everything I paid 80$. Remove the case and the shipping and it's about 40$. So it's a pretty cheap cue. I can't say it's bad though. I've gotten used to it well now. The shaft doesn't slide so well so I use powder or a pool glove. Also nothing fancy about the shaft, vibrates and no special technology, but as I said I got used to it. The tip that came with it was really not good though... It was like Super Hard and one day it broke... Literally. Then I got a new soft tip. And after a while I switched to Kamui Medium. The Kamui tip really extended my cue's life and playing value. Even when I get my new cue(Which is soon), I still plan to keep it in my case and use it sometimes. Another thing I would like to add is about the decorations. It's a really nice looking cue and looks much better in real life.

*The second cue I got is a Fury Jump Break. It's an excellent cue I think. The wrap is very cool looking and has a nice grip. Decorations and colours are cool as well. It's pretty good for jumping. There is however one problem with it. It is very very light... The weight is about 19 oz I think... That's like a playing cue! I may upgrade to a higher weight... When I hit the balls at medium speed on the break(Like not so hard) it can break them pretty well actually, but when I try to use full strength it can get messy because of the low weight. Other than that it's really excellent.

*My third cue... I haven't gotten it yet, but I will get it very soon, probably this month or the first week of February. I am still deciding on that and I've made a topic for it, so if anyone wants to help:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=304251
The price range I've set for myself is at least 200$ to about 350-400$ and any of the cues listed there or similar ones are in consideration.

*After this cue I may go for a new break and/or jump cue, as I may sell my current one to a friend who really wants it. And after that, well, looking way too forward into the future hehe...

my cue history

1. lots of bar cues
2. Mcdermott D8, bought it new, still got it
3. Cuetec Mike Massey Devastator jump/break cue, bought new, still got it
4. Predator LE3, bought it new, still got it
5. 1964 Sampaia The Premier, Portugese cue, received as gift, still got it
6. Predator 4K5, bought it used, still got it

The Predator 4K5 is my main playing cue

Played with house cues until I was 18, when I bought a pool table for my garage. I then had a few Dufferin solid pool cues and an old hand carved 4 piece cue that I couldn't stand. I traded in my Camel bucks for a Smokin Joe cue. It showed up warped and I never used it.

I kept playing pool halls with house cues until my girlfriend at the time bought me a Pechauer cue that I ended up losing when I quit playing pool.

Now that I got back into it, I bought an Action cue I use to break, a Falcon BS-7 that was retipped with a Tiger Sniper, an unknown model Joss butt that I put a bdcue ss360 shaft on, I picked up a Player's HXT for a car cue (that found a new home) and have a Joss N-7 on its way that will receive the ss360 shaft.

I have an order in mind for a custom cue, but haven't crossed that bridge yet...

The first cue I ever bought was when I was 15 yo and a local pool player did me "a huge favor" and sold me a 5 piece walking cane cue for like $15. Only in the pool room a few days and I already got moved on.

I played with sneaky petes up until grad school when I bought a Mottey. After I graduated and got a job I started the high end cue tradeout process. Played with a southwest, then an old joss, then another southwest, then searing, bender, southwest until about 13 years ago when I got a gus. I havent switched cues since although I did pick up a nice hitting scruggs titlist that I use as the occasional travel cue when I dont feel like taking the gus on a trip.

The first cue I bought was in 1990 I think and it was a McDermott cue with decals of a cobra and skulls! I was BAD ASS.......or so i thought! I played with that cue a lot and one day a guy told me to make the shaft slicker I needed to take some sand paper to it 180 grit! I didn't know any better at the time and it wasn't long before the shaft warped and I tossed the cue.

For some stupid reason I wish I had it back now, just for sentimental reasons.
(This is not the actual but looks like the same model.)

Then I got a beautiful Paul Huebler high end emerald green 4 point cue. It was a great cue for me and I wish I still had it. Unfortunately someone else like it to and stole it. Lesson learned. I don't have a pic of this cue, I wish I did though because it was a stunning cue. Everyone called it the Leprechaun!

Then I had some cheap crappy discount store cues before I eventually bought A nice Joss. Still have it.Still love it. Still use it on occasion.

But my main player is a Barry Cameron custom that Barry made for me a few years ago. This cue fits me like a glove and I will never let it go.

This seems like a fun question! I've only played seriously for about 2 years but I have developed a serious love for cues! Since I hate my birthdays, I indulge in cue shopping as birthday gifts for myself. Some women buy themselves jewelry, I get myself cues. :-)

My history:

1. Teal Stealth
2. Maroon Cuetec - stolen from an ex, I used it more than he ever did!
3. Pink Flame Lucasi - reward for drafting a new APA league team
4. Plain maple Meucci - off of Craigslist as I searched for something a little less hot pink.
5. Custom Jacoby - my current player - we met and fell in love in Las Vegas in May 2012
6. Cuetec Denali -bought to use as a break cue - Cuetecs are indestructible! :-)
7. Cuetec sneaky - traded #6 for this one to use as a break cue, put a Kamui medium tip on it so that I can break and play with it!

On order (I only turn 37 once!):
1. a Bill Trimble custom sneaky with a purple and white butterfly
2. Custom Jacoby - kingswood with a white ringtail lizard wrap that I have been coveting for almost a year
3. a custom Sugartree that I can't wait to meet!

On my wish list:
1. a Judd cue
2. a Phillippi sneaky
3. a Predator sneaky - I just think that they are pretty
4. a Predator break cue - another pretty cue

Years ago in Phoenix when I first started playing I bought an old Adams cue from a friend for $25. It had a repaired crack in the butt between the wrap and the joint. It was stolen from my car here in Wichita when I started playing again about 8 years ago.

After that I bought a cheap Players cue - still have it; and a cheap Smart cue - break cue - still have it too.

Then I bought a Shurtz cue in 2005 and still have it (they are made here in Wichita)

Over Thanksgiving I found a nice Joss in a pawn shop while looking for a break cue. So, I'm still looking for a break cue!

duferin 2 piece
Minnesota fats hustler

My first pool cue that I bought was an Adam Steve Mizerak model that I paid 85 dollars. I sold a chunk of my comic book collection to be able to purchase that cue. My best friend also bought a cue at the same time as I got mine. He had more money and bought a more expensive Adam cue. A Allen Hopkins model. I eventually wound up getting that cue from him and had it in my collection for a long time, but eventually sold it. I still have my first cue.

About a year later I bought my 2nd cue, a Schon cue that I paid 300 dollars. I still have that cue and has been one of my primary players for the last 35 years. While I was in college I sold cues to students, and as a dealer for Palmer Custom Cues I bought a hustler cue for myself. I still have it and over the years I collected over 30 player autographs on it.

Over the years I have collected additional cues, mostly after I went to work for the local billiards pro shop with whom I worked for for 10 1/2 years til the owners decided to retire from the business. Through the store I collected cues from Richard Phillipi, McDermott, Falcon, Nova, Viking, Coker.

Whats in my collection now:

1st cue - Adam Steve Mizerak model
2nd cue - Schon SP-15
3rd cue - Palmer Custom Hustler model *autographs
Richard Phillipi
Nova (2nd Nova cue, upgraded from a previous Nova)
Bob Runde
Coker (ivory joint, had 2 additional Cokers but sold them)
Falcon
Mcdermott (Elvis model, Dubliner model)
J&J that was pinup airbrushed onto the cue from local airbrush artist.
An old Adam model from the 70's that I plan to send out for a cleanup/refinish.
A giant promo cue from Stealth cues that was gifted to the store that I worked for. Has store's name on the cue.

Had a Viking cue for awhile that I later sold. And had a Mcdermott M7QR6 which was really nice but also had to sell it for money.

I think that pretty much covers my cue history. Not much, but the cues I continue to keep and enjoy. It would take alot for me to consider selling any of what I have now.
