Your Favorite Billiard Retailer

I thought I would ask everyone on the forum who their favorite billiard retailer was and why?

What are they doing different to hold on to business in a very tough market right now?

Thank you

Locals

I only buy from a local pro-shop and a local cuemaker.

They both get my business for several reasons:

1. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
2. I TRY TO TAKE OF THE LOCAL FOLKS BEFORE I VENTURE OUT ON THE NET. IF POSSIBLE.
3. QUALITY PRODUCTS
4. GOOD PRICE

I 2nd that. Never ordered from them online, but have been to their shop in Springfield many times. A pleasure to do business with.

I third that. Great prices, great selection, great service and shipping.

High end Cues and Cornerstonecustomcues and quality cues, in no particular order. and for video TAR and accustats in no order either, joe whitten and jack justice in no order. I dont buy anything other than cues, cases and video's. I've never had a bad deal with any of the guys I just listed. and I consider them all friends.

I like billiard warehouse
nielsen's billiards
TAR

on the shit list

cheapcues.com (horrible customer service, warped cue)

Seyberts ( I've never talked to anybody that smug and condescending on a telephone before)

Another vote for Nielsen's

That would be www.joerackem.com Nielsens Billiards :)

Springfield IL . . . Great guy . . . knowledgeable . . . great prices and service . . . backs up his stuff . . .

Pool Dawgs in second . . . another great pool retailer.

Are you in the business SoonerFan? I am in OKC right now and we could meet and talk shop. I can tell you what some people are doing to be successful that works.

Salesmanship coupled with real expertise and service still win business, especially when the customer has to be very careful how they spend their money.

Also selling the home entertainment angle works well. When the "bar" is at your house you end up staying in more often, having friends over, and spending less money while still having fun.

I know people who even run league matches in their house.

Just a few things among others that good businesspeople are doing.

Thank you SoonerFan

I'm curious - why do you think there's a "tough market" right now?

things have never been better ...........................for the oil guys.

I'll echo the praise for Neilsen's. I wrote a post a while back telling why, and a lot of people chimed in with equal praise.

I've also had good luck in the past with Hawley's. I ordered a travel case for a trip to Vegas from them, and they called me to iron something out instead of shipping something that they were pretty sure that I didn't like.

As for what they do that works....

Where I work we tell our clients all the time that people rarely remember what you said, but they'll always remember how you made them feel. It's not a groundbreaking thought, but applied correctly, it can make all the difference in the world. I think the premise applies to every industry. Joe at Neilsen's made me feel like I was a really important customer, and he bent over backwards to make sure that I had exactly what I wanted.
