Your favorite stupid pool comments you love to hate

I hate it when a player misses shape and then spends 30 seconds pointing out the spot on the table where the cb should have ended up.

Yeah, then he says, " I hit that perfect, I dont know what happened"

.................You know the ones I mean. It may be the one guy you see at the local bar says and it has no place in the Billiards dictionary (I know there isn't one, that I know of, but maybe there should be).

I know these threads have been started before but i love hearing everyone elses "Dumb One liners" Not yours of course (unless you are that guy/gal). I know we all started somewhere and we all have our different up ringings and some of us learn the right and wrong verbiage from great forums like these. And some of us were blessed to be almost raised in a pool hall. But come on lets here them and I will get the ball rolling with my favorite.

Your about to lag and you opponent says "Ok, on three 1,2........"

Dumb ass!

I will be watching a movie that I could care less about with my wife and Mother in law so I need some reading entertainment.

Rep to the best I get by my bed time, 12:00am, 1:00, 2:00..........

Oh and magix if you read this and you're wondering why am not shooting with that beautiful Schon. Well I did a bit when i got home and things do look better for you then yesterday. I may get more time tonight to play but will really play some tomorrow.

Idiot: "I heard you are real good at shooting pool?"
Me: "I play ok, I like to play games for money."
Idiot: "My (dad/cousin/brother/boy friend/whatever) will play you. He plays in pro tournaments in Vegas every year. He has a bunch of trophy's. He is a 6!!!"
Just out of curiosity why does that make him an "idiot." I agree that he doesn't know a lot about pool, but why call him an idiot?

Please tell me what the formula is for the pythagorean theorem. If you can tell me, maybe you are not an idiot...

Sorry, maybe that was uncalled for, but sometimes I get tired of the condescending attitudes of the lower level players...

Before the match: Take it easy on me...
If the player is someone I consider to be more skilled than me it is insulting. If they are genuinely looking for pity, sorry to say they'll not find it.
I had a guy ask me once after a match "Why didn't you let me win one?"
I said "sorry"

If you're more skilled than I am and you like to woof about it, I'll tell you "That was a nice poke at it" when you miss an easy one...

Mostly I just keep my mouth shut.

Recently this very issue came up during a game of 9 ball; please excuse my ignorance but I wonder if someone has some clear understanding of what is a "legal" shot and what is not.
Here is the the way it seems to me. I thought it was not ok to scoop or lift the cue ball off the surface of the table at any time. For example;the correct and legal way to attempt a jump shot is to stroke the tip of the cue downward contacting the cue ball above the equater causing it to hop over a blocking ball. The idea being that it is not legal to scoop (contact the cue ball below the equater) the cue ball in order to cause it to travel over the top of a blocking ball.
The problem is that some ignorant folks think that the way to create a jump shot is to shovel or scoop the cue ball which we all know is incorrect and this question often comes up when a player is about to or has attempted to hit a jump shot. I believe the rule about scooping or lifting the cue ball applies at all times. It's not that the player was perceived to have attempted a jump shot but while attempting to use very low english but that he miscued and actually "scooped" or "lifted" the cue ball up off the surface of the table. This in my mind would be a foul just as it is a foul to double hit the cue ball which also happens often but is rarely called or enforced. It happens to be that I was the player who unintentionally lifted the cue ball while attempting to use low english and I called the foul on myself and gave my opponent ball in hand.
I would be very interested to get your thoughts on this.

Under any rules I've seen, if it was not intended as a jump shot, and there was no double hit or hitting the ferrule, then it's not a foul.

Your opponent misses an easy shot and accidently leaves you hooked and says, "There ya go."....and you've still got all your balls left to shoot!

Jeff Livingston

Your opponent misses and while you're in the middle of deciding what to do, he starts in about the hows and whys of his miss and what he wanted to do and points his finger to the spot where his plans went wrong a nd stands in your way and continues talking about his missed shot and failed runout plans while you're trying to focus on yours.

I don't mind it when practicing with someone as that is the purpose, but during competition it does make it hard to concentrate.

LOL...the question was not directed to you... I didn't mean to imply it was even a hard question... Sometimes I let the condescending attitudes towards lower level players or non-players get to me.

This situation is similar to my story in post #28. What was bad about mine was the fact I was around nobody else that knew billiards rules. That is why playing at the local PH is good because there is always someone who will back you up.

The inevitable

'Take it easy on me'. Like you should feel sorry for them in some way, and let them win.

Am I the only one..........?

Doesn't anyone else even get a little 'irked' when you lose the match, after doggin' your brains out and .........at the handshake, you get a "great match"......??????

Maybe I just need to go to anger management class.........

I like the response some give when I check out if the eight will go into a pocket on an open table. And love it when it goes.

or

You can drive a truck through there. My response is "yeah, but you can steer a truck"

Well folks like i promised I will rep my favorite and POCKETWOLF it's you. I have a huge pet peeve with this. It does nothing but help wear that cloth faster.

I had fun reading these. I can only hope more from other parts of the world that are night owls or simply indifferent time zones will add more.

Night night!

Thank you sir! This wouldn't have been possible without the nimrod who pulled it off, thanks to the nimrod.

WOW..I didn't know this was Geography class (a2 + b2 = c2). To answer your question, the person titled "Idiot", is not the person referred to by the "Idiot". But, since you asked, it does qualify one to be an "idiot" or just completely ignorant if they think going to Vegas for a pool league qualifies them as a "pro". I have heard the statement before and was just responding to the thread.

When you have a friend who isnt a player says "I got a regulation size pool table put in my house" I awalys how big is a "Regulation" size table is?and they never know the answere but awalys reassure me thats its "Reguation". You know they got robbed just by them saying that.

"Shoot a good stick"<----reminds me of bar players, drinker/drunk type of people who play pool with their drinking that takes an 90 minutes to finish one game of 8 ball because they are too busy shooting the shit an drinking not playing pool.

The hot shit guy who holds the chalk on the tip lets go of the cue leaning it about 75 degress up from the floor, and puts his foot on it 8" above the butt cap rolling it back and forth with the bumper rolling back and forth across the floor-which drills a hole in the chalk, putting a blue ring on the ferrel and looks like a kack off , personally I only chalk my bushkas and my 8pt gus like this. ;)

guys who say "you saying got not heart" when yu have never seen that person bet a dime-litterly 10 cents. To me heart isnt a contest its a charcter trait. There was a point I had less heart, I'll admit that, but man that was long ago I was a baby back then.

sothere is my list of sayings and actions

I feel your pain on those first two fat boy

Regulation table what the hell does that mean anyways. barbox,8 foot, oversized 8 or 9 foot. I just bought a brunsick metro tourney editon, and i paid alot for it so these idiots with "regulation" tables that they probably bought at academy really piss me off. I played on a freinds table that had a plywood bed instead of slate and he swore it was "regulation". I dont care what size your table is if its got plywood under the felt its a POS.

and the "shoot some stick" sh!t usually comes from some no playing fool who saw pool hall junkies to many times. I heard a guy say that at the table next to me the other day. His exact word where 'Yah ill play, im always down to shoot some stick" I finished a race to 3,bout the time he was makin his first eight ball. :withstupid:

Ok i gotta chilll im pissing myself off just thinking about it.
