I know these threads have been started before but i love hearing everyone elses "Dumb One liners" Not yours of course (unless you are that guy/gal). I know we all started somewhere and we all have our different up ringings and some of us learn the right and wrong verbiage from great forums like these. And some of us were blessed to be almost raised in a pool hall. But come on lets here them and I will get the ball rolling with my favorite.
Your about to lag and you opponent says "Ok, on three 1,2........"
Dumb ass!
I will be watching a movie that I could care less about with my wife and Mother in law so I need some reading entertainment.
Rep to the best I get by my bed time, 12:00am, 1:00, 2:00..........
Oh and magix if you read this and you're wondering why am not shooting with that beautiful Schon. Well I did a bit when i got home and things do look better for you then yesterday. I may get more time tonight to play but will really play some tomorrow.
Just out of curiosity why does that make him an "idiot." I agree that he doesn't know a lot about pool, but why call him an idiot?1on1pooltournys said:Idiot: "I heard you are real good at shooting pool?"
Me: "I play ok, I like to play games for money."
Idiot: "My (dad/cousin/brother/boy friend/whatever) will play you. He plays in pro tournaments in Vegas every year. He has a bunch of trophy's. He is a 6!!!"
Dss51 said:Recently this very issue came up during a game of 9 ball; please excuse my ignorance but I wonder if someone has some clear understanding of what is a "legal" shot and what is not.
Here is the the way it seems to me. I thought it was not ok to scoop or lift the cue ball off the surface of the table at any time. For example;the correct and legal way to attempt a jump shot is to stroke the tip of the cue downward contacting the cue ball above the equater causing it to hop over a blocking ball. The idea being that it is not legal to scoop (contact the cue ball below the equater) the cue ball in order to cause it to travel over the top of a blocking ball.
The problem is that some ignorant folks think that the way to create a jump shot is to shovel or scoop the cue ball which we all know is incorrect and this question often comes up when a player is about to or has attempted to hit a jump shot. I believe the rule about scooping or lifting the cue ball applies at all times. It's not that the player was perceived to have attempted a jump shot but while attempting to use very low english but that he miscued and actually "scooped" or "lifted" the cue ball up off the surface of the table. This in my mind would be a foul just as it is a foul to double hit the cue ball which also happens often but is rarely called or enforced. It happens to be that I was the player who unintentionally lifted the cue ball while attempting to use low english and I called the foul on myself and gave my opponent ball in hand.
I would be very interested to get your thoughts on this.
LOL...the question was not directed to you... I didn't mean to imply it was even a hard question... Sometimes I let the condescending attitudes towards lower level players or non-players get to me.pooltchr said:a squared plus b squared = c squared?

I had fun reading these. I can only hope more from other parts of the world that are night owls or simply indifferent time zones will add more.
Night night!

Please tell me what the formula is for the pythagorean theorem. If you can tell me, maybe you are not an idiot...
Sorry, maybe that was uncalled for, but sometimes I get tired of the condescending attitudes of the lower level players...
Fatboy said:When you have a friend who isnt a player says "I got a regulation size pool table put in my house" I awalys how big is a "Regulation" size table is?and they never know the answere but awalys reassure me thats its "Reguation". You know they got robbed just by them saying that.
"Shoot a good stick"<----reminds me of bar players, drinker/drunk type of people who play pool with their drinking that takes an 90 minutes to finish one game of 8 ball because they are too busy shooting the shit an drinking not playing pool.
The hot shit guy who holds the chalk on the tip lets go of the cue leaning it about 75 degress up from the floor, and puts his foot on it 8" above the butt cap rolling it back and forth with the bumper rolling back and forth across the floor-which drills a hole in the chalk, putting a blue ring on the ferrel and looks like a kack off , personally I only chalk my bushkas and my 8pt gus like this.
guys who say "you saying got not heart" when yu have never seen that person bet a dime-litterly 10 cents. To me heart isnt a contest its a charcter trait. There was a point I had less heart, I'll admit that, but man that was long ago I was a baby back then.
sothere is my list of sayings and actions
LOL Geometry not Geography...lol. I guess you proved my point...1on1pooltournys said:WOW..I didn't know this was Geography class (a2 + b2 = c2). To answer your question, the person titled "Idiot", is not the person referred to by the "Idiot". But, since you asked, it does qualify one to be an "idiot" or just completely ignorant if they think going to Vegas for a pool league qualifies them as a "pro". I have heard the statement before and was just responding to the thread.
