Just out of curiosity why does that make him an "idiot." I agree that he doesn't know a lot about pool, but why call him an idiot?1on1pooltournys said:

Before the match: Take it easy on me...
If the player is someone I consider to be more skilled than me it is insulting. If they are genuinely looking for pity, sorry to say they'll not find it.
I had a guy ask me once after a match "Why didn't you let me win one?"
I said "sorry"
If you're more skilled than I am and you like to woof about it, I'll tell you "That was a nice poke at it" when you miss an easy one...
Mostly I just keep my mouth shut.

Recently this very issue came up during a game of 9 ball; please excuse my ignorance but I wonder if someone has some clear understanding of what is a "legal" shot and what is not.
Here is the the way it seems to me. I thought it was not ok to scoop or lift the cue ball off the surface of the table at any time. For example;the correct and legal way to attempt a jump shot is to stroke the tip of the cue downward contacting the cue ball above the equater causing it to hop over a blocking ball. The idea being that it is not legal to scoop (contact the cue ball below the equater) the cue ball in order to cause it to travel over the top of a blocking ball.
The problem is that some ignorant folks think that the way to create a jump shot is to shovel or scoop the cue ball which we all know is incorrect and this question often comes up when a player is about to or has attempted to hit a jump shot. I believe the rule about scooping or lifting the cue ball applies at all times. It's not that the player was perceived to have attempted a jump shot but while attempting to use very low english but that he miscued and actually "scooped" or "lifted" the cue ball up off the surface of the table. This in my mind would be a foul just as it is a foul to double hit the cue ball which also happens often but is rarely called or enforced. It happens to be that I was the player who unintentionally lifted the cue ball while attempting to use low english and I called the foul on myself and gave my opponent ball in hand.
I would be very interested to get your thoughts on this.

Your opponent misses and while you're in the middle of deciding what to do, he starts in about the hows and whys of his miss and what he wanted to do and points his finger to the spot where his plans went wrong a nd stands in your way and continues talking about his missed shot and failed runout plans while you're trying to focus on yours.
I don't mind it when practicing with someone as that is the purpose, but during competition it does make it hard to concentrate.

But, since you asked, it does qualify one to be an "idiot" or just completely ignorant if they think going to Vegas for a pool league qualifies them as a "pro". The hot shit guy who holds the chalk on the tip lets go of the cue leaning it about 75 degress up from the floor, and puts his foot on it 8" above the butt cap rolling it back and forth with the bumper rolling back and forth across the floor-which drills a hole in the chalk, putting a blue ring on the ferrel and looks like a kack off , personally I only chalk my bushkas and my 8pt gus like this.
guys who say "you saying got not heart" when yu have never seen that person bet a dime-litterly 10 cents. To me heart isnt a contest its a charcter trait. There was a point I had less heart, I'll admit that, but man that was long ago I was a baby back then.

Regulation table what the hell does that mean anyways. barbox,8 foot, oversized 8 or 9 foot. I just bought a brunsick metro tourney editon, and i paid alot for it so these idiots with "regulation" tables that they probably bought at academy really piss me off. I played on a freinds table that had a plywood bed instead of slate and he swore it was "regulation". I dont care what size your table is if its got plywood under the felt its a POS.
and the "shoot some stick" sh!t usually comes from some no playing fool who saw pool hall junkies to many times. I heard a guy say that at the table next to me the other day. His exact word where 'Yah ill play, im always down to shoot some stick" I finished a race to 3,bout the time he was makin his first eight ball. :withstupid:
