Cuetec, 1993. Picked up a Joss after that and never looked back.....
It was when the "Earl Strickland" series first came out, mine was all white, black pseudo-wrap with the natural color shaft. Only reason I got it was a friend who was a "better player" at the time had the all black graphite (shaft included) and I liked it...
Thank god I never had a full graphite shaft cue.... Never will either!! hehe

Adams sneaky pete. Broke at the joint,two week after I sold it, while the new owner was breaking with it.

Actually, that's not entirely true. My playing cue is a burl, hoppe-style Mottey. Well, a friend of mine hit with it and fell in love and offered me about $2,000 cash on the spot so, I reluctantly parted ways with it. But I must have looked like a sad little kid who lost his puppy dog or something because he sold it back to me after a week or two!! But I'll never make that mistake again.
As far as the others that I've owned that I do NOT regret selling...
my Gilbert. It was a five pointer with 5 windows in the butt. Kinda Boti-esque with 40 ivory inlays, ivory joint, ivory rings, and even an ivory tip on the pin a la Schick. All of that work and the cue still played poorly! (And the work in the cue wasn't all that great either!)

And Zack, I know you're going to gasp at this but another cue that I don't regret selling / trading is that Skip!
Don't get me wrong! The cue played great and it was a beauty! But I had one complaint with it (be it a minor one) AND I got a gorgeous rosewood Mottey in the deal!!!
The complaint I had was the finish. I've owned two Skips before and I've played with a few others. I've always felt that the finish is just the slightest bit dull. It doesn't have enough shine. That's my only compaint. But that Skip I had was a knockout! And it played well too. On second thought, maybe I do regret selling it...

Sorry for the ignorance here but what type of cue does Earl have i know its a cuetec but exactly what kind i think i recall someone saying its not a cuetec shaft and he had it changed to something else, can someone tell me about this i had a buddie from another league buy a cuetec cue and it looks nyce but i haven't tried one although i do like Earls cue
For the subject i still have my very first cue and i don't like to sell things so i am way off topic here but i still play with it and i have a brand new Mcdermott cue and i would rather play with my Original Viper cue which i got from a sports section in the mall i love it, and while my millionaire buddies have thousand dollar viking, and predator cues and i just can't play with them.
Earl was in Vegas a few years ago doing an exhibition at the trade show. After making a few nice shots and jerking his cue ball around, he said "anyone have any questions?" Well I did so I said..."hey Earl if thats a Cuetec, why is your shaft blue?"
He said right in front of a rather large crowd, while shaking his finger at me...."listen right now you MFer, don't ask any questions were it concerns my finances"!!! I was shocked that he used that language to a "possible" fan, in front of all those people, with many small children there....WOW!
He then just grabbed his stuff and stomped off through the crowd.
Hehehehe....some of the most fun I've had.

Wow Varney, you found one of Earl's 46,215 hot buttons! What an embarassing shame for pool and himself that he regularly blows up like that. 
Back to the thread topic: Bot a new custom cue off ebay. Was made in Tulsa, absolutely beautiful cue w/nice inlayed points, BEM forearm, ivory inlays, pretty ring work BUT was fairly skinny, light, poor balance, crummy hit/feel, played like a little girls cue with an annoying rattle from somewhere 1 out of ea 10 hits. Played it 4 games and dumped at a loss within a month. Thank goodness - my only disappointing ebay purchase out of maybe 11 cues.
