A close friend of mine has a friend that is looking to part with a Richard Black made in 1979. (old school type) The only thing i know, have not seen pictures yet, is that it is 4 points with veneers and some inlays. and it has 2 Richard Black original shafts..Without knowing any more than that and without seeing any pictures (i know it is very difficult to do) does anybody have any idea what a good price is. I have been told that it is in 99% condition and everything is straight. BTW. the asking price is $1,500.00. Does that seem out of line at all to anybody on here..............................mike

For a plain, 4 pointer with veneers, no special ringwork, 2 13mm shafts with ivory ferrules and a stainless joint with linen wrap, I would say about $800-1000. I would expect something just shy of his Bushka model for $1500.

Just sold a six window older one

I sold it for $1400 I think on Ebay.

Not out of line. But at top of range.

THE SIX WINDOW IS A SPECIAL CUE, THAT COLLECTORS HAVE GROWN A LIKING TOO. I ALWAYS HAD SUCCESS MOVING THOSE AT HIGHER PRICES.............. YOU ALSO GOT THE TOP END OF THAT CUE'S MARKET VALUE. CONGRAT'S, WITH THE MARKLET AS SLOW AS IT IS, SOMEONE WAS REALLY LOOKING FOR A SIX WINDOW.

MIKE,
THIS IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER......... HOW MANY INLAYS IS SOME? WHAT WOODS WERE USED? IS IT HOPPE STYLE, OR DOES IT HAVE A STANDARD DELRIN BUTT?

A PLAIN OLDER 4 POINT/4 VENEER IN LIOKE NEW SHAPE(WHICH WOULD BE VERY HARD TO FIND) SHOULD BRING ABOUT 900 OR SO. IF IT WAS REFINISHED, ABOUT 750.00

AS FAR AS AN INLAID CUE GOES, IT WOULD DEPEND ON INLAY MATERIALS, AND INLAY PATTERNS...... SOME OF RICHARDS OLDER GOES, WITH CERTAIN PATTERNS DO WELL, OTHERS ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SELL.

I'VE HAD ALOT OF RICHARDS CUES IN THE PAST, AND THE STYLE OF THE CUE, HAS THE LARGEST INFLUENCE ON VALUE AND SELLABILITY. HE'S DONE SOME WEIRD DESIGNS THAT SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T LIKE.

I own 7 of Richards cues...The older cues are more desirable by 'Collectors'..just for the age. So i dont think that a 'player' would be looking to purchase this cue. Unless it plays perfect for his game and the veneers are to his liking.
...Being from '79, the cue is probably a half splice, which is good, and not a short splice which is his later style.
Again your target is going to be a collector! And 800-1000 is your $$$ target! Good luck...Pics would be nice!
