To Mike and Mr. Wilson, please keep this in the main forum, since this will get more views. I think it's important that we get the majority of everyone's opinion on the IPT, with what's been going on as of late.

With all the problems with the payouts, Mark Trainer, etc etc etc, what do you think of the IPT?

I would love to see it work out for the benefit of all players interested in pool. But I do see a lot of problems with the overall structure as it is now.

The room I play out of has several IPT Players (Sigel is one), so I do hear a lot from them. The Florida Pro Tour also has a lot of IPT players.

Everyone has to remember that the IPT is a business venture for KT and not created for just the love of pool players. So if it doesn't show a profit or being headed toward a profit in the near future I don't see it surviving long. The IPT needs a lot more major sponsorship, but first has to figure out a marketing strategy to get it interested.

There also seems to be internal problems with the format and qualifying structure. KT is depending on the wrong audience if he is looking for money from 99% of pool players which are just working people. Out of the millions of pool players less than .000001% actually make a living playing pool. The qualifying cost is way too high for most players to risk to just go to another qualifier.

These are just my opinions. But for the IPT to succeed I don't believe it will even resemble the current structure down the road.

I do wish the IPT and all of the players and dreamers the very best for the future :)

(also no category for me to vote in as I am holding out any judgement of it)

My opinion?

My opinion is that you mosey on over to the IPT section of this MB.

I double checked to make sure it's still there, there are 22 active viewers on that section as I type this.

This way you won't tie up this section so that we can promptly reply to the burning questions like "What is the best tip for my cue?" view cutting edge technology like the "Volcanic X Tip on new X breaker", or respond to "What's the best custom cue for around $300?"

No Category. Exactly where I am at, none of the answers fit. I would like to see a successful tour on the scale of the IPT, I don't think the IPT will be it. Hopefully I am wrong but as a businessman I can't make any sense out of the IPT's business plan and despite those that think that it is too arcane for mere mortals to grasp, all business plans boil down to making a profit. The way the IPT is structured now I don't see that happening in any manner that will allow the IPT to continue on it's present path.

As an outsider looking in:
I think the IPT has been great for pool---up to this point.

The fast growth bothers me from a financial standpoint in that it needs to grow slower ie. an annual event vs. a pro tour. Most players do not have the financial wherewithall to tour.

Sponsorship will have to be increased for both the events and the players. The players will have to get their own sponsors.

I hope all players support the IPT to make this a successful event. Many criticize without offering suggestions for improvement---let's be positive.

How many have supported the IPT by at least checking out KT's products?

They chummed the waters and found out the world will send their players wherever they are needed to compete. Many business's fail but leave a structure, and many times the next one in realizes the mistakes and is able to make a success out of anothers failire. Hopefully it'll survive, with the lack of communication tho they are shooting themselves in the foot. And if there is not another event, will the players that sent in their dough to get into a qualifier and qualified, get their money back because they were not able to participate?

Your missing a few categories. No matter though, as long as the players get payed eventually I can't see how this could possibly be a scam. Trudeau is supposed to make money off this as it is a business venture. So far Efren Reyes will have made close $1M from the tour. Not bad for a scam.

I see this tour as a great idea to get more of the public interested in pool. Since most people play 8 ball the average joe can relate to the game. Besides 9 ball and television is thought of as an "ESPN" event to the public. Who knows, maybe one pocket some day-some channel.

If it died today it still would be the best experience the players and fans
ever had, or ever will have.

Jake

I agree, Jake............I have posted about my experience in attending the Reno tournament....It was really nice.....but, alas, as I think back to it, I had forgotten one significant aspect.....It only cost me $5 a day to watch the tournament while I was there, but the attendance was anything but full......?

There should be more options, going from the greatest thing to happen to pool(which is too soon to tell) to it seems kinda shady is a large leap.

I think that while the tournaments are going on, with all the on-line updates of the brackets and everything that it's quite exciting. It's a new organization and is obviously going through growing pains.

Only time will tell what it will be. For now, I'm enjoying it.

I have a close friend that attended the IPT in Reno & he made the same remarks.

Maybe Pool players won't support Pool Tournaments, like Golfers support Golf Tournaments.

I would support Satellite Tournaments every week across the nation. 4 Pros playing a Ring Game after a short 4 pro-4 amatuer Pro-Am should be exciting to watch. It also gives the local players a chance to meet with the great Pool Players at their Pool Room.

However, without some media attention, the whole kit-n-kaboodle will be just another disappointing drill & something to remember way back when...

Pool players around the world need to petition their local newspaper & TV stations about coverage of our chosen Sport. Petitions sent to TV advertisers would generate some interest too.

The IPT could become something with the support of players around the world. Imagine, if you will, how a Professional Player might feel about competing in weekly tournaments, that will give him or her a livelihood. Awaking everyday, knowing that you have to HUSTLE a SCORE, must be an awful life to live.

IPT encounter

I was at Reno. I was a great event best tournament that ive been to. It seems this is what pool has needed. They have to have a pretty sold structure to maintain this. Hope that this is not a flash in the sky.
