hey guys. its been a while but i am almost done with a case i was making for myself. it still needs to be laced around again with a color lace that i just got done dying to match the leather.

I used a cheap material for the inside that i had lying around the house instead of something nicer. other than that i was thinking about adding a strap.

i was wondering what your opinions are on envelope style cases. should i add pockets? any other advice or cool ideas. I will be building another for a friend soon so im just looking for some input other than use a better material for the inside.

ps....remember mine is not completed but thats where it is at the moment and it holds 2 butts 3 shafts and my predator air jump butt very snug. the next will be a 1 butt 2 shaft envelope case. should i bother with pockets?

I agree,I like it but definately need to have something to seperate the shafts and butt.

My advice would be to keep it simple, then add tooling for higher end designs. My favorite envelope case is snug enough that a liner or dividers are not needed for 1x2, but I'm not carrying a Szamboti either. Pockets are nice but plain is what I would want. Stitched on one side only please, in a J shape. Long enough for a 31"+ butt including the pin. Snap flap or a stud.
As in cue making you will never regret using the best materials you can find.

I've seen and hadnled this case.

I have no idea where he learned, but he clearly knows what he is doing.

yeah im working on the best method of seperators. im looking into a soft kind of style. like the justis pro-lite cases. instead of cramming some tubes down in. ill be working on the 1x2 this weekend and put some dividers in. if anyone has ideas feel free to throw them at me.

I am also working on carving and tooling designs and pictures but like any kind of artwork that takes alot of time and practice. capefairpool is pretty good at it. how long have you been tooling?

I've been making cases as a hobby for a couple of years. I've only been doing the carving for about 6-7 months. It does take a little practice but it's alot of fun.

Envelope Case

Looks very nice. My only concern with this type of case is if it has enough backbone to support the cues.

Soft cases (that can bend) cannot support cues properly. The cues end up supporting each other. Over time the cues will warp IMO.

i just use it for transport and to keep out of the weather to and from. i dont use it to store my cues and lean it against a wall or anything. It is always laying on its side to keep gravity on my side. :o)

most cases are just formed leather by wetting it and drying it out so it keeps shape. of course u have to use a leather with enough weight for that to work and theres correct ways of doing so. once the case is constructed completely it also helps the leather hold shape. also if your case has tubes on the inside that is usually what the leather is wrapped around anyways. I am going to start working on those soon. Im just looking a good way to make the inside of the case to not look as cheap as some tubed cases. if anyone has any ideas of what they think the best inside of a case can be let me know.

ps i dont think the ak will fit. it is only 6.25" wide
