I agree, Mine is 13mm, and the girlfriend says it's plenty!:D

Oh you mean pool cue shaft .....ok ...ok its 12.75

chances are someone told you it was 13 and was mistaken then. i only have 1 shaft that's 13mm advertised and it's like 13.1mm


some people taper the ferruel to stiffen the hit i guess.so that could account for the smaller tip as well

Now I have a new 13.0mm shaft that I've been told will help reduce miscues, not that I make many now, but still. I'm still getting used to the increase in size, even though .5mm seems tiny like it shouldnt matter. I still have the old shaft and feel more precise with I occasionaly practice with it, although I want to get used to playing w/ the larger one.

Any thoughts? Discuss?

I play with a 12.4mm diameter ferrule but am trying out the Predator 314-2 shaft on my Bender cue.

I seem to make hard cut shots better with a thinner shaft than I can a thicker shaft.

I seem to make straight in shots a little more consistently with a thick shaft than a thinner shaft.

I played recently with a 314-2 and a Z -2 shaft and felt I could play better with the 314-2 and I should have it in about two weeks.

JoeyA (put the scotch brite pad in the round file and get some 2000-3000 grit plastic sandpaper) but you know that already.
 
My shaft

is about 12.7mm. I carry calipers in my case, they settle a lot of discussions in the Pool room.
 
I've used a 13mm up til now- just ordered a 12.4mm shaft for my Schon and will see if that makes any difference- if I like it I might try a Z-2 next.
 
Shaft sizes

I shot with an old,old falcon cue that fell off my T-tops when I cleaned out my car,found it in the middle of the road while cars where rolling over it.My cue repair guy had to shave it down to lees than an 11 1/2 mm.Through the years(15 TO BE EXACT) in has been waddled down to less than an 11 mm. I feel that the squirt,the curve,and the swerve are way more noticeable to correct on long shots.In my insight I get more out of less,meaning I get more spin,more draw,more follow,more,more,more.Recently I purchased a schon LTD 1122,the shaft was a 13mm,so u could guess that I had it shaved down to a 12,I find it needs a little more turning,but all in all wasn't too bad.So I guess what I'm trying to say is it's whatever ur comfortable with keep playing hard and if it isn't working out,go back to what u use to use or get rid of it,that's my advice. PS I still shoot with the falcon,it has made me the most money and I have shot my best with it,I'm slowly working into schon.Goodluck in finding what ur looking for.

12.5mm for me. I played a lot with a standard 13mm shaft until I got my Scruggs and fell in love with the 12.5mm shaft. Nowadays anything over 12.7mm feel like a log.
