Your stuff safe at the pool hall?

kids

I understand.

The guy I play with rides with the same patch on his back that I do. And I put that patch there. He plays with a Joss that I gave him, that goes in a case I gave him next to the break cue I gave him. He was dating my daughter and I moved him into my house, so I guess you could say I gave him my daughter too. He gets my cues when I die.

I let him watch my cues, and I watch his.

Leaving in a few minutes to ride a couple hundred miles with him. :)

.

Sounds like your daughter picked a good one. Glad to say mine did too - and as a single father .. it was a HUGE relief. :)
re: the OP - personally I've been very lucky - but I'm also cynical by nature, and so very cautious too.

I never leave my gear unattended ever ever. If I'm playing league I ask one of my teammates to watch my gear. If I'm alone at pool hall and don't see anyone I know nearby, I load up my gear in my case and take it into the head. There are thousands of cues stolen annually. Watch out!

Oh and I forgot to mention I laid my phone down on a two top next to the pool table I was playing on. Match over, phone gone. Tracked it on "find my phone" to a downtown apartment and was going to go door to door to get it back but the IT guy at my office disabled it somehow turning it into a paperweight.

Simple fact in pretty much all pool rooms the people are good honest people who aren't interested in stealing your stuff. But in all pool rooms there is always a piece of crap floating around who would steal the nickels off a dead mans eyes. You need to watch your stuff or know who you can depend on to watch when you have to go to the restroom.

I seen people walk around and take the pennies off the tables.

I lost a BK cue that someone took while I was playing. I now lay it under the table until I am finished playing.

I caught a few trying to take my cue from my holder while sitting next to it. One claimed that he wanted to check if it was the one he lost.

Thieves are everywhere.

I had a BK break cue leaning against my chair at House of Billiards in Santa Monica, and while I was at the table shooting some guy apparently came over and took it to use to break with. When I looked and saw it was gone I looked around the room and saw him a few tables away using it, so I went over and told him it was my cue and he said he thought it was a house cue. When I inspected it he had already put a big dent in the butt.

Fairly plain jane looking then? Both my breakers are.

I've read too many horror stories on here about stuff getting stolen. A few years ago I read somebody's post on here where they stated they took their cue to the bathroom with them. I don't care if it looks ridiculous to anybody else, I've been doing it ever since.

Hello ... it's not just pool halls! You're stuff is not safe anywhere. It's a sad state of affairs. I can't believe how many women leave their purses in their shopping cart at the super market while they wander off looking at different cases. Always be vigilant about your belongings. Just sayin' ...

Sad, but quite true. Too bad JB Cases doesn't make a pac safe-type case. pacsafe.com I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap, though.

No, it looked like this:

Now I'm wondering what pool hall has those for house cues. Hmmmm .... Glad you didn't let him get it. (and sorry about the damage .. I might have been tempted to say something about that)

I think it really depends on the pool hall. Ive been to pool halls where ppl leave their SW on the table when they go for a smoke, and pool halls where they pack up their cues every time to go bathroom (but then again the guy had two black boars lol)

Yeah the two places I play regularly are pretty safe and people regularly leave their stuff while they run to the bathroom or step outside. Saw a guy leave his stuff while he left to go run an errand the other day even.

I do the same usually. I typically look around and see who's there but typically just leave my cue on the table for a restroom run but wouldn't leave it for much more than that. Tournaments are different, lot more people I don't know so in those cases I usually take my cues with me.

Exactly, what pool hall has a house cue that looks like that? I actually did say something to the guy about that, and he didn't have an answer. The word "ignoramus" comes to mind. I didn't notice the damage to the butt until a little later, and I think he was gone by then.

Or those that sit down at a bar, throw their ten pound ring of keys over the top of their money, have their cellphone next to it and then leave it all unattended.

I put my $1000 cue on the table and went outside for a smoke.
All the guys around my table were regulars.
I came back in and my cue was still there but my last cube of Russian Magic chalk was gone.
