glue around the pocket area, how do you stop it from the being in the playing area?

really they should use tac strips

Great videos there. I have to say that I think I actually like Mike's way of marking and prepping the cloth better than Glen's! ;) Sorry buddy! Of course if you're doing anything other than 9' Blue HR, that template wouldn't work.

ut oh, be careful or the snake might bite. What template are you referencing?

He's a big boy. I bet he can handle it. ;)

I'm talking about the template Mike uses in the video to make the stretch on the cloth. First he marks the back of the cloth by rubbing his (closed - LOL) blade case on the edge of the slate. That shows him where to apply the glue on the back of the cloth. Then he uses a template to mark the stretch index on the top of the cloth. That shows him how far to stretch to maintain an even consistent stretch and eliminate shadows.

ok I see what your saying, thought I missed something. Can't believe this guy is doing this without protection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT SMART especially if he does it everyday

What do you mean without protection? Looks to me like he's got his knuckles duct taped to prevent rubbing them off on the cloth! ;)

No I assume what you mean is respiratory protection against the glue fumes.

yeah you know what I mean, does he even have knuckles after doing this all the time. If they would just put tac strips on those tables they wouldn't have any glue smell or as much. I can't wait to put them on my tables. And an OTLB pocket insert to finish of the pocket lip

fun isn't it

Also, what is the reasoning for swinging the cloth back and forth? you mean to tell me they don't hand wipe the slate to check it?

I would not consider swinging cloth over the table as the preferred method to wiping it off. Little specs are what throw balls off. It may be OK for tables like Diamonds as they have no seams, etc but I don't know too many guys who do that. Also will bet you money if you do a table in front of me with that method I can go back and find crap. Of course thats a trick you don't know about.

I suspect they do that as part of "the show" but unless you wipe it you don't know.

Plus that was in a factory, Maybe the houses you work in don't mind dust in the air and on the floor but I wouldn't subject my customers to anything like that or the glue smell.

O boy' I don't know where to start with U..I wipe and clean off the state many times with a rag and a solution then with my bare hand before cloth install.as for the cloth sweep...u don't know where that came from.....spray glue can be used in the same maner as the 3M 10 u say stinks..u took the wrong approach with the tac strips..as for the rest of ur ideas take em to china and I'm sure they will use em on there tables..

You're Welcome.

I use bare hands as well unless there is a lot of dust on the table like when recovering a bar table. Then I'll use a vac or towel to wipe the majority off and get the finer stuff by hand. I've seen guys wear gloves to wipe down the slate, I'm assuming to keep their hands clean. I use bare hands so I can feel any dust or debris left on the table that I might not see. Then I always get down and look across the slate at eye level so I can see anything I might have still missed.

if you have time to do that, please correct his sentences hahahahahhahaa

I don't think it's something you can fix, and I'm not just talking about Rob.

John, I don't know if you realize this, because we're apparently both too old to be trendy, but it's actually COOL to misspell many things on purpose now. I've seen some examples where I actually have to appreciate the extra time and effort it took to carefully make sure every word was misspelled as cool as possible.

As a matter of fact, I think WE are actually LAZY, tired old men. We stopped short at learning how to type and spell correctly. Most young people now go the extra mile to learn to add the extra cool points to every sentence.
