I posted this on the 3-cushion section of the forums...but no one has replied.. maybe I'll have better luck here. :)

what do you guys think about using a Predator Z shaft for 3 cushion?
I have one that I'm not using and figured I could use it. although I dont know if the Z shaft can withstand the forces of the bigger and heavier balls. I dont want to shatter a shaft that cost me $200 :)

I have tried the Z-shaft for 3-cushion billiards and my opinion is that it is not ideal. I have experimented using these shafts for straight-rail billiards with decent results. To date, no professional carom billiard players use Predator cues for serious carom play.

Rumor has it that Predator is developing a carom cue, so I will look out for it. Should be very interesting.

Predator.....carom shaft??????????? Put me on the waiting list :D

Aug 13-19th in NY. Don't miss it. :)

First...the Z is way to thin & whippy for billiards. Second...with the very thin & somewhat weak ferrule combined with the hollow front end it would probably not be wise with the heavier balls. Thats why billiard shafts are thicker, stiffer, stouter...not the opposite.

I've used one for 3-C, including when playing artistic shots, like 9 cushions on an old Brunswick. If you are playing reasonable 3-C (reasonable shots on reasonable equipment), you won't be hitting the ball all that hard. The reduced squirt will help with your aiming on extreme spin shots as long as that is what you are used to. I think it is a suitable choice if you are going to play both pool and carom with the same cue.
