Zinzola Cues

On quest for perfect 14.1

As some of you may know, I got my beautiful new Zinzola cue at this year's Super Billiard Expo. Tony is a great cuemaker based out of Massachussetts, and I've known him since we met at college many years ago.

Last night I ran my first hundred with it! It was 100 exactly, and it was in my match last night at Amsterdam. I guess some of you were saying the cameras were down, so that's kind of lame.

Anyway, just wanted to say I'm very proud to be playing with one of Tony's cues. It hits great and is absolutely gorgeous. I've never been much into cues but this one has me a little giddy.

Tony, if you see this, please post up some pictures. I am useless at that lol.

Thanks,
Steve

Thank you sir. I think Tony has the more professional pictures... mine would look terrible. I also keep the cue in the poolroom so the lighting wouldn't be great.

If Tony can't find any finished pictures, I'll definitely get some up.

Nice job Steve, a hundred for you is like a walk in the park but doing it with your new cue is special. Get some pics up.

Here are your photos Steve. Now quit playing poker and go run 300.

a wonderful cue from a wonderful cuemaker for a wonderful 14.1 player....match made in heaven....hahah

Hussa,

@Steve
congratz- imo one of the best feelings you could get with billiards- to hold a cue in your hand where you immediatley saying..."That s it!" . I m enjoying that you found a cue that s not only made for you-especially i like to see that you re feeling that is *really just yours*.

@Tony Zinzola
I had the pleasure to play with 2 cues built by you- both played as the other-imo one of the biggest compliments you could make to a cuemaker
:-)
excellent balanced-superb shafts- good feedback. Hats off :-)

lg from overseas,
Ingo

Guys this cue is real stunning, I saw it in person at the expo. I actually tried to sneak away with it at one point, but barouty cought me. Thought he couldn't see me past that hat.....lol

glad you are happy with the cue, I guess zimzola's are built for high runs !!! And I don't think that's the placebo effect of a new cue... You deffinately have the goods Stevie.

Nice shootin

Steve,

Congrats on the new "baby". Nice run after only a couple of weeks with a new cue.

Just curious....what prompted your decision to move to another cue?

Also, it sounds like you just prefer to play 14.1 verses other billiard games. How often on average, would you say that you are running a 100 plus balls? I ask because I don't know anybody locally at your level who just specializes in playing 14.1 on a regular basis.

Thanks.

Bernie.

Thanks for the good wishes on the new cue, everyone!

Bernie, not sure how often I run 100+. I play pretty much 3 games of 14.1 a week, one set of 9 ball, and maybe another set of 10 ball.

Two of those games of 14.1 though, are with Danny Barouty, so it's easy to sort of stay in stroke when you can't miss too much.

If I had to guess how often I run 100, I'd say maybe once a month now, which comes out to about 1 in 12 games? Probably a reasonable estimate. I wish I could enjoy playing more, but I just don't have the desire to play all day like I used to. As it is, I was recently laid off from work so I do have time to play. But pool depresses me when I'm not working lol, so I really try to limit my time in the room.

Danny and I are quite different in how we look at rotation games. He doesn't find much merit in them; I sort of do. There are a lot of interesting things that come up in rotation games. I've been playing a lot more (read: one or two sets a week) 9 and 10 ball lately, because I was getting worried I was losing my ability to play these games well. So now I try to make more of an effort.

I used to compete a lot in the regional 9-ball tours, where I was never really a threat to win one, but maybe a threat to very occasionally come in 3rd if I played well and got a few rolls? These days the thought of driving to a tournament on the weekend, staying there all day Saturday and Sunday, and sitting around waiting for matches... just doesn't do it for me.

Anyway, I'm completely rambling, but - while I play a lot more 14.1 than do most other players, I still love rotation games.

Steve,

i am quite surprised to see you say this about rotation games...... i am the exact opposite, i would rather not play rotation games. i find them a bit on the boring side !

Those veneer colors are THE NUTS! Tony built another cue with the fleur-de-lis inlays with those colors. I'd snap either of these cues up if I could!

The fleur de lis cue has similar colors. It is the one I had at Steve's house when we picked his. I actually have that cue here right now, refinishing it for the owner and I think he is going to put it up for sale.
