Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

only seen it done, not done it myself. silicone spray on a microfiber cloth then gentle uniform wipe on the table (including rails). all this after vacuuming and cleaning table ofc. i think it was a pure silicone spray for automotive purposes
Played Earl Strickland in FL a few years back and he sprayed and wiped the table for about 45 min. Had a microfiber towel and I wasn't exactly sure what was in his secret little spray bottle. Said to me it was because of the humidity. Cloth did play faster when he finished and he went 3-1 on me.

I have personally siliconed a few CB’s on slow tables when practicing at foreign locations to emulate my own table at home which has some pretty fast Simonis on it. Draw is definitely amplified and sidespin a bit more noticeable. Though not a common ritual of mine, I only do it for my long practice sessions and only when alone.

I do however, wonder how it affects the tip in the short or long term? I mean, it’s not like the CB is soaking wet. But over time?? I use a G2 medium and wonder if it eventually hardens or softens it. Anyone with thoughts on this??

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

you think that or know that? big difference.
My son was told after the match that while he had gone to the bathroom the guy took a cloth out of his case and cleaned the cue ball with it. The guy totally changes his style of play to zero draw shots and my son is miscuing when drawing. I am 99% sure he waxed the cue ball.

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

I've added weight to 3 shafts now, one about .32 oz, one about .3 oz, and one about .28 oz. Quite simple actually if you have a cue lathe. Just drill and tap past your original joint threads about a 1/4" further than the distance needed for the threaded pin you are installing. Other than shaft weight or final cue balance, I can't imagine it in any way affecting how the shaft plays.
Even Mezz, or Predator, or one of the cue manufactures offers this as a feature on one of their shafts.

so i’ve decided to make cues

I'd imagine you could get a pillow bearing and a collet and it would steady it up well without breaking the bank. I'd be very wary of using that with the shaft unsupported at all. I mean, it works, but all it takes is one mistake to damage threads. I'm not poo-pooing your effort, just be really careful!

With the collet and pillow bearing it would be very capable of doing tips. Sharpshooter has some setups that are drill based but I don't entirely care for them. They use something like skateboard wheels and you must wrap the shaft with about 1/16" of tape where they set or it will damage a shaft. They work well with this one caveat. They come with some vinyl tubing but in use it slides off and exposes the shaft to the wheels. They scuff/scratch the shaft and will actually dent the wood in a ring. Not good. But 1/16" of low stick painter tape protects the shaft.

Just tossing some ideas out there. Good progress! :)

Thanks! Ive been working on a collet, but its not finished yet. I will investigate pillow bearings.
