For Sale - John Bender Gus Szamboti Tribute #1

For more info see my original FB post:

A very special cue that plays incredibly. The cue does have a slight sinking in the finish in the butt, John offered a free refinish but I’m unsure if someone may prefer the cue original. Cue is made to Gus specs, from Szamboti wood (Barry gave to John to make 6 cues), even the bumper is Gus stock. Barry installed two of the three tips and this cue plays as you’d expect! Beautiful classic design that attracts attention every time I bring it out to play, which unfortunately is not too often.

Team Names Not Allowed

That's going the other direction. APA apparently is tolerant but other potential sponsors may not be (and who knows how many they've lost in the past because of team names), so yes, it does make perfect sense.
I'm glad I got away from league a long time ago.

Seeing a few of my old team names on that list makes me laugh. Never been asked to change a name before, during, or after the tournament.

Some were banned many years after the fact, it looks like.

It's amateur pool, it's a bit of fun. Alas, I understand.

A concerning change in average tournament payouts.

... Any given tournament should get a sponsor, or more, to get money for prizes, that adds a lot more money and grabs a lot more interest for the players. ...
Most sponsors for city/regional tournaments I've seen have really been donors rather than sponsors. Like a roofing company that puts in a thousand or two because the owner is a regular at the room. It's unlikely that the publicity will do anything useful for the donor.

Miscue with Taom v10 chalk

I have noticed more miscues with Taom v10. So I have been investigating, wondering if I'm just crazy. But I have seen multiple reviews and threads of people mentioning the same issue.

Last night I was watching this match. The commentators were talking about the Taom chalk issues. This was the nail in the coffin for me: (14:19, but conversation starts a little before that)

I've notice alot more skids when playing against people using these new chalks. I've mentioned it here in the past and people think I'm crazy 🙂

They were talking mainly about how everyone uses Taom and that skids have virtually disappeared. There was a single mention of some players having miscues when Taom was brand new but not anymore. If anything it was a positive endorsement for Taom

Miscue with Taom v10 chalk

I think skids are more prevalent than before exotic chalks, just my opinion from watching years of matches being played.
In the past matches, say early 2000's you rarely heard a commentator mention a skid, nowadays it's common. One guy, I forget who it was, actually blamed Shane who ironically was probably the only player using Master chalk because he was using Master.
