Thanks, I have a Kamui soft on a cue and like it and just decided to go that direction. So . . . was on the fence about the colors and kept coming back to the NBN all black, just in case got the weight kit and it was discounted a little, Prime II and I'll have a black leather wrap - never done that before but I've gone back and forth over trying that and decided to pull the trigger (also have a little bit of an issue gripping too far back and that will be a reminder, I guess). I'm very interested to get acquainted with it if it gets here before Xmas and I think it has a chance, otherwise between Xmas and New Year's I have some family time/time as well - good time to hang out at my table. Merry Christmas to me, haha.

I suspect it's a typo. 52.4mm is about 2 1/16 inches, so that's a typo for sure. Snooker balls are specified as 52.5mm. English eight ball is with smaller balls, usually, 2-inch for the object balls (reds and yellows) and often smaller for the cue ball.

I think the density of pure phenolic would give a pool ball much lighter than 169 grams, and the weight is achieved by adding other material. To achieve a snooker ball of the same weight (169 grams), the density would have to be increased by about 30% more.

The volume of a pool ball is a little under 100cc (98 for 57.2mm), so 169 grams gives a density of 1.725 grams/cc or 1.725 times water. That is within the range of the density of ivory. I suspect that's what they shot for, or maybe one step removed if clay balls were made to match ivory and then phenolics were made to match clay.

Fair enough. But do you want to be the guy who tells a brand new member who, based on their post, doesn't seem to care who makes the cue as long as it's got ivory that a cue maker you personally know is still using ivory? I wouldn't. I'd leave that between the new guy and the cue maker. And that's why I answered the way I did.

I have 2 Jacobys, both slightly under $900. They are fantastic cues. I have their Ultra shaft and their Kielwood shaft for them. Also have a Rhino carbon shaft and a new Rhino carbon Must shaft. Right now I am using their Kielwood shaft, and my wife uses the Rhino shaft.
I'm not going to say they are better than my Schon's, but they are also not worse. You don't need to spend over a thousand dollars for a great playing cue, these 2 Jacobys will play just as good as their $4000 ones.
They are the 4th and 5th from the right.
Two great cue makers.

Somebody here was asking if Parica’s family was well off. His dad was a cop, it’s a toss-up about his family’s wealth. I know this for a fact because they live a few blocks from where I reside. I’ve watched Jose play using a Coke case to propped him up on his shots. He was a reed thin 5 foot boy, about 12/13 years when he and his dad were hustling the shortstops in all of the seedy pool halls back home.
