Todays Sneaky Pete cues

i usually told people watch out im really good at pool. this way i can also say i told you so. then they want to play you.

what they bet and how much they lose depends on how you are beating them not on your cue or how you are shooting.

then you can stall and play anyway you want.

if you are trying to hustle drunks for two dollars a game you need more than a sneaky pete to survive for long.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

the question in this post is- will the game of pool itself grow enough to support the high end cue purchases into the next generations - we don't know----- pool has funny way of coming back in America when you least expect it- see 1961 and 1986.
Kinda hit on it...
Everyone is lamenting the decline in popularity of pool in the USA. Pool halls closing everywhere. It only stands to reason the less players you have the less equipment is purchased. The pool (sic) of players are down, the billiard industry is taking a hit at ALL levels, not just high end sticks.
The decline in popularity of pool is the reason high cue sales is declining.

New 1P Rules For The Derby City Classic

Stalling is considered "unsportsmenship." I believe most of us would play fairly and try their best to do the right thing. Don't tolerate poor behavior. Report it to the referee. I think that the wholesale changes that were in store for this years event were too much too fast and would cause problems. I for one am pleased they're trying to keep the game as close to how we all play at home as possible. Baby steps in rules changes are my preference.
i agree but funny how you are one of the slowest players around in one pocket. but doesn't stall.

Well, now I've went and done it.

I would say lighten also or maybe the glue will build up slightly in that area and create a ledge to further lock it in place? Or maybe just to keep people guessing, ha ha.
Pretty much what you have said, Mainly the locking it in place. I saw it on a higher end CF shaft awhile back and decided to incorporate it into my design too. Using Hydex for the vault plate / ferrule, I have no worries about it compromising the strength.

A question about the 1976 World Straight Pool Championship.

... all carom games with nursing and short distance points are incredibly boring to me. english billiards, straight rail, one cushion, imagine those championships, race to a gazillion points. i would concede after an hour.
The "small" games are a lot more interesting if you play them sometimes yourself. English Billiards often has spells during a game when the balls get loose for a while, and even "top of the table" play can be interesting for how different players solve the problems differently, but mostly I agree.

A question about the 1976 World Straight Pool Championship.

My favourite tale along those lines was the world record English Billiards break, in an age when cradle cannons were still permitted.

The break took about a week, during which time the champion’s opponent was required to turn up every morning in his best tuxedo, cue in hand, only to sit in a chair all day.
The player doing most of the shooting was Tom Reece. The match was staged to be played over five weeks to 500,000 points. The goal was to set a record. Tom made something over 249,552 shots in a row for 499,135 points,

Sadly, the record was not recognized by the authorities. I've heard two reasons: the press and public were not present during the entire match -- not hard to believe -- and/or the referee could not certify the score.

Reece was never World Champion. Here's his Wikipedia page:
