Unless I am playing a match, I probably will play with 3 cues in the course of 3-4 hours. I play 8 ball, 9 ball and 10 ball
and 14.1 matches at the pool room. I often will change cues when playing match with a different format. Heck, the sole reason for having multiple cues is you get to play with them or else thin your collection since cues really aren’t art. A pool
was meant to be played with otherwise just go buy some posters of pool cues if you don’t intend to play with your cues.

Not really sure of the exact way I would translate it. But it sucks when it affects you negatively, and is pretty good when it works in your favour... Most people spend their lives trying to put themselves the right side of important people. The amount of times I have seen someone agree with the most incredulous nonsense, or get given opportunities thrown at them, simply for their percieved importance

Tight pockets and fast tables really require this stroke technique both for accuracy and to create enough backspin on the cue ball to slow it down when needed off the very fast cushions in place today.

I think that , in the “old” days of 5 inch short shelf pockets, slower cloth and cushions- AKA the Brunswick GC series— one could “get away” with stroke mechanics far less demanding in consistent execution than what is needed today to be a top 100 player.

I am not saying that old time greats would not be great today - I think they would adopt to this modern style - but a lot of strokes that were sloppy in years past just could not cut mustard against today’s pro players on this equipment.
