APA League Question

It’s not just about skill level.. it’s also about money. I went for masters and we had to stay playing and our skill levels didn’t matter.
For the Showdown Series, it's more about rewarding our most loyal customers than it is about money. For Masters especially, the last thing APA wants is for players who play weekly and enjoy the product to be shut out of the Vegas Showdown events by someone who plays only occasionally, comes in and swipes the slot, then disappears again. That's also why those events and the minimania tournaments require a higher number of matches played to be eligible. In some respects, loyalty equates to money but I think, even if we lived in Star Trek times where money is not necessary the scarcity of the slots would lead to stronger eligibility requirements for these events. Requirements to be on a Summer team (rather than just Spring, when those events are now held) I believe are now leftovers from the recent past, when those events were held at the end of Summer.

Intentional Fouls … An Important Strategic Tool

playing in a bar you cant really do many of the safes and plays you want to as they quit or get mad.

when playing you can see how they play and just play the same and just better and win that way.

shooting in one of his balls or hooking him when you could have hit one of yours in gets you in trouble.

in a tournament it is different and have a go at all the rules allow.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

No players under the age of, say, 45ish don't give a shit about the 'mystique' of a custom cue. A cue is a tool nothing more. I started back when the belief was that to play good you had to go custom. Those days are gone forever. Good playing cues can be had from 100bux on up.

Sure, but most of these people aren't discussing Valhala, Star, etc. cues. They are talking about Kittycues and Mess. I won't get into the argument about whether shaft technology is better, but there is nothing about a production butt that is better than the custom offerings. When you talk about the price people pay for a decent looking kitty or mess, you aren't far off of a bespoke custom from many good makers.

I'll go with the custom every day.

Diamond pockets specs

You are wasting your breath.

It was mostly on the thought somebody else might read and benefit. If what he posts is true the issue is almost certainly lack of skill. There is no magic break that always lets you run out without being able to come with a shot or two most of the time. My advice will open up a rack. Murphy being involved the balls might roll back into clusters.

Anyone suffering from break issues is almost certainly suffering from a lack of accuracy, not break speed.

Yes.

I grant all day long that the Europeans are the superior team and inherent in that is the ability to adjust to different equipment. But the instances where our guys are failing to get out, to me, it’s more out of a lack of familiarity (and perhaps a bit of fear of those pockets) with the equipment than much else.
