Fedor’s “new” chalk…

Cube shape TAOM chalk is the best thing that’s happened to pool chalk…..period. Oval shape sucks and Fedora’s chalk is just another silly shape that is more of a gimmick than any improvement in chalk. TAOM really blew it by not introducing TAOM in both versions, cube and oval, that would have let them keep 100% of the profit instead of sharing it with Pagulayan since it ‘s the same damn chalk. Any of us using it will tell you it’s as good as V10 without the label.

I posted about Pagulayan chalk long ago and I’m thrilled that it has become so popular because it’s a cube not oval.
There’s no other reason for its popularity since it is TAOM pool chalk but in a cube shape that so many players prefer.

Identify these billiard balls

I have purchased many sets of Centennials starting in mid 80’s and I never saw a red dot/ circle cue ball included in the set.
In fact, my recollection is that the red circle CB’s are several grams lighter than the Centennial pool balls so it would be badly mismatched. Cue Balls and object balls should be the same weight & diameter or the pool balls will not play the same as a set of pool balls with identically matching weights. That’s the actual, irrefutable law of physics that every player should know.

‘A game of Pool’

While viewing that old ‘Twilight Zone’ tv episode tonight (for about the 5th time), I watched a 14.1 break shot I hadn‘t noticed before. The side break ball sits high, and the CB has a 45 degree cut shot. Ordinarily, I would cut it into the corner, load up with inside follow and try to nick the head balls, or maybe come off the side rail & back into the pack (which will usually leave me stuck to it!). Only on the tv show, (don‘t know who is actually doing the shooting, since not mentioned in the credits, though likely Mosconi since it was filmed same year as ‘The Hustler’ movie, where Willy made all the hard shots), he shoots the break ball into the wing ball (barley nicking the one above it), and it caroms directly into the corner. Tried it a few times, and with a center ball hit, it goes most every time!
One of my favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone...
