WAXGATE and the Effects of Slick Cloth and Waxed Balls

I show and discuss the rule near the end of the video. See also: WPA Equipment Spec 16. You are not allowed to polish balls with a dedicated wax, but it is okay to use a pool ball cleaner that might have a small amount of wax in it.

The WPA press release cites unsportsmanlike conduct, which I agree applies. “Any intentional behaviour … that disrupts or changes the game to the extent that it cannot be played fairly.”

There can also be a significant difference in how the cue ball plays without wax being involved. If the cue ball is scuffed up and rough. using Aramith ball cleaner, which smooths the surface, will make draw a lot easier. That's without leaving anything on the surface of the ball.

If you're playing in unfamiliar conditions, such as a tournament, you need to check out both short and long draws to see how the equipment is working. Another good test is a follow shot that might get the "banana" action shown in the video, which kills the distance.

Bob,

Do you know if Aramith ball cleaner has any wax in it? The website says it has no silicone but says nothing (one way or another) about wax. Someone on FB got AI to say it has wax, but my gut says it’s just cleaner/polishing agents and no wax.

In the picture in the article bellow, he is holding that cue and has a Predator logo on his shirt, but I don't remember Predator having such a cue

It could have a Predator shaft on it no matter who made the butt.

First question I did not see answered is it Illegal to WAX POOL BALLS? Is there written RULE AGAINST PRACTICE? Know we have a Mechanic Ball Cleaner in our POOL ROOM. Part of process is using a liquid to SHINE & CLEAN Pool Ball Sets. They defiantly are different post cleaning. But you improvise, adapt, and overcome and both parties playing are using the same ball set, so is cleaning and polishing maintenance, that make the balls initially slicker post clearing Illegal?

Ebony Dufferin Cues and a Girly Bonus

All three of those conversions are sweet but that one with the wrap is right up my alley. I prefer wrapped cues (sweaty and greasy skin) and points without veneers. Hell, that's one of the reasons I traded my Dayton Hoppe with veneers for a Nitti four pointer without veneers. The Dayton was probably "worth" more. But they both hit great and I liked the looks of the Nitti more.
Thanks.

The only thing converted about the middle cue is that it has a cue shaft screwed to it instead of a snooker cue shaft. It has the original Dufferin 5/16x14 piloted Glider joint. I have an original 29 inch Dufferin shaft on it.

The first cue has a pin conversion to a standard 5/16x14 piloted instead of the Dufferin Glider pin.

Lambros Contact?

Aside from regular problems with “cue maker time” the quality of production cues is very good. I admire some of the customs, but the ones I had I just didn’t love. The ones that I admire I can’t seem to get comfortable with the cost. And if I pulled the trigger on something too expensive I might not be willing to play with it. Maybe I’ll get over it and get another. But probably not.
I like many of the production cues as well. My reason to go with a custom cue was more sentimental. I first learned to play pool with a Lambros sneaky Pete and it was always my favorite cue. I finally could afford a nicer one and the initial phone conversations were very thorough. I was hoping others on this forum might have had more luck recently with contacting him and things were just being delayed. I'll update the thread if I have any luck.
