Earl Strickland Triumphs As WNT Legends Concludes A Historic Week

Earl Strickland was crowned WNT Legends Champion after producing a commanding performance to defeat Francisco Bustamante 11–6 in the final, lifting the title in front of a packed and passionate crowd at Gateway Mall, Quezon City. The American completed a remarkable week in Manila, bouncing back from defeat on the opening day to close out the tournament in style and remind all he is still one of the greats of pool. Reflecting on his victory, Strickland said: “I’m thrilled to win, especially after falling short on Day One. I proved that you can never count an old dog out. I […]

My wife says that I am cheating

I kinda think that spring can give a false hit. He could use the box with balls in it to stop the yellow?
The impulse duration of two colliding high density phenolic spheres is a fraction of a millisecond, and the ball travel distance during this time is one or two thousands of an inch. The spring deforms linearly due to Hooks Law, and the back-force generated during the collision distance is less than the friction of the cloth on the table… so negligible. I would have to worry more about matching the weight of the screw in the ball to 168g total rigid body mass. So in other words, there will be pretty much no difference.

Using a box to stop the ball isn’t as convenient because this will reset for me automatically.

Safe travels to those attending the Derby City Classic this year

Is High School basketball still king in Indiana? What are people saying about the recent national championship for the Hoosiers football team? Does it even register much because it's still a predominantly basketball state?

Yes, still King. In spite of going to class basketball back in the fall of 1997.

And yes, the IU-phoric comment above is quite appropriate. Indiana became alot more football conscious when #18 arrived in Indianapolis back in 1998.

Have you heard about Titlist chalk (by Dr. V's Custom Shop) before SVB's recent announcement?

I've been using Russian Magic Chalk for the past 10 years, but it gets quite messy. Rarely miscue though
We are in the same boat about Russian Magic Chalk, been using it a lot for years. But I did not notice it being messy (well, it does leave some clearly visible residue on the cue ball if the tip is soft, but only on really strong hits).

As for SVB's story here, it must be one very familiar for pool: money talks ;)

Have you heard about Titlist chalk (by Dr. V's Custom Shop) before SVB's recent announcement?

I learned about it from Dunnski Dungeon YT channel during the Oscar and Raulito match. He kept playing the ad every 5 seconds and forcing it down our throats...pause if necessary.

I just assume Taom V10/Pagulayan/Titlist chalk are all the same, just using a different skin.

I've been using Russian Magic Chalk for the past 10 years, but it gets quite messy. Rarely miscue though. I think Dr. Dave did a study on this and Magic Chalk came out on top, getting the maximum amount of shots without a miscue and only chalking once. Not fun for my wood shaft or hands though.

Data from his website:

chalk: average number of shots before miscue
Master: 8
pre-flag: 8
Lava: 9
Blue Diamond: 11
Kamui: 15
Silver Cup: 7
Magic Chalk: 29!!!

follow-up for Taom chalk tests (from NV J.7 – Chalk Testing Follow-Up, Taom vs. Master, and How to Chalk Properly):
I just chalk every shot.
Are people keeping track in their head when they play with fancy chalk?
