Pace of Play

Local tournaments should ALL be single elimination, luck counts, 9 ball. ...
That will end in about half the time as DE. Sometimes even faster than that. If people demand at least two matches, have a consolation tourney for the first round losers, if there are plenty of tables.

With SE, you could add a game or two to the match length and still finish much earlier.

Rhino 'Time' and 'Time Crystal' tips

Just wanted to update my post now that my Rhino has arrived with the leather brown tip. It does have that clear layer, like the Time does - but it's clearly a multi-layer leather tip.
Plays great. It's a much harder tip than the Tiger sniper I'm using on my Katana 3 shaft. I'm enjoying playing with this shaft so far. Making all the shots I usually make, but on long shots with side spin, I'm having better success - possibly attributed to more confidence which is most probably new shaft syndrome...
Here's a shot of the cue with the unknown tip.

Yapp’s Controversial Tournament-Winning Shot in the 8-Ball World Championship … Was it a Foul?

If it's too close to call then it's too close to call. There is really no need for a referee, or a group of observers, to use the "physics" to influence said referee's decision based on observation of which ball was contacted first. "We know best" or "I just know" isn't objective.

I have the utmost respect for those here who back up what they say with real data, real physics, real interpretations - probably more respect than they realise, at least two of them are heroes and bordering on legends with their analysis of the game of pool. There are shots that lowly me "can" call when I referee but I don't. I guess we will never know how well the referee in question "could have" called Yapp's "foul" but they didn't. In real time it's close, really really close - they can't, or a least shouldn't, call it. Video replay as an aid to the referee of course changes everything. Same in all sports. But it wasn't used (I hope it will be eventually in all pro tournaments because the technology is becoming really cheap and really available).

By all means, analyse the shot. But let the referees do their job.

Pace of Play

dont play if the t.d. doesn't have the balls to keep things moving doing whatever it takes.

if enough players stop playing or complain and stop they will fix it. a broken wheel never gets fixed if it isnt turning.

all it takes is to tell all players that they need to get out of the chair and shoot. if they stall at all they will be punished with loss of turn or match.
and all slow players wont be invited back. that right there solves most of the problems.

Points, Inlays, Veneers, Ringwork, and other embellishments

I think it has more to do with the wood than the inlays, points or rings. I have merry widow Viking from the 80's that hits nice as do my D series McDermotts but my best hitting cue is an old Titlist. I cant say its a great hitting cue because that is far too subjective, if people all felt the same about feedback there would never be a soft tip sold. Probably not a carbon shaft either, unless everyone uses only soft tips on them.
