The only thing that isn’t better now is the personality and feel. Pool isn’t alone in this regard, a great many things seem more sterile, soulless and overproduced these days.

I used to play pool as a kid and the first mistake or first advantage was usually game over. With so few balls on the table it was like russian roulette.

Snooker is more of a challenge.

I'd pay $100 to play Fedor in a race to 11 in 9B.

He's not going to run 11 racks on you.

He might string together a couple of 4 packs.

But you are going to get your chance to play a top pro. And feel the pressure of people watching. Which should make your league or whatever a little less stressful for you.
