Been there, done that. The music market has changed greatly in recent years. With youtube channels and other such avenues as proven sources of income streams, I'm not forced to play out, which is a grind. Recording, mixing, production, promo, etc can all be done from home without selling your soul to the devil - looking at you, record companies - but it requires me to wear all the hats. So, I have to use both sides of my brain, but I do that anyways. The trick is to prevent the magic side from being derailed by the rest of it.
Another plus is that the online channels are a good fit for releasing singles, so no pressure to put an album together. Streaming platforms don't pay squat, so no need to worry about that unless something takes off.
