Is removing your glove a shark move?

boy, some of you wouldn't last a minute in the pool rooms i used to go to. people sat all around you when playing and talked and made comments and side bets.
put their cigs on the rail and even left them when your turn sometimes. chalk was never put any way but where it landed.

holding the rack when he were about to get out wasn't considered anything but in a hurry to lose another game.

rarely did you sit down when he was shooting you stood close by.

and no one lost their money because it bothered them. people in pool rooms had to have a thick skin.

Cole Dickson's practice session routine

things to add:

the cell phone in 1985 were the size of a military walkie talkie. and it cost a couple dollars a minute to talk and batteries ran out quickly.
the phone cost about 4000 bucks and got a half hour before the battery died.

there were 4 that i know of good pool players that gambled called squirrel

cole went to jail because one of his long time friends and guy who was in with him talked to save his own ass otherwise they probably might have gotten no time. he then got unlucky and got shot driving a cab in vegas. bad karma.

Dynaspheres Tungsten 572 Pool Ball Set

What is the BEST cue ball to buy now?

I have a Brunswick Blue Circle that I sometimes use when I play in one of the pool halls downtown, but it feels heavy compared to the ball sets that are used there. I don't know what set of balls they use...maybe a cheaper brand or set.

I think I have another unused Blue Circle in a box somewhere.
Buy a whole set of whatever brand/tier you prefer and leave it in your car. A bare Aramith CB will be $40 range. The entire set from Dynasphere is $140 range and it will be all yours.

I did that in the mid 2000’s when the super Aramith pro was the best ball. Had it in my trunk for years and used it frequently at the local halls.

FOULS IN POOL ... Everything You Need to Know

Today another happened to me:
Playing local 8 ball league (wpa 2016 rules), i anounced a ball to a pocket, missed and the ball went in to another pocket. My opponent claimed that he could choose making me play again from that position (as in 10 ball). Is this rule real into 8 ball? Thanks.

Absolutely not. That rule applies only to 10-ball.

How to Own a Poolhall?

Most of the time in a pool room you don't need all your tables. Daytime to usually not that good most the time certain nights of the week but can you have weekends. So the formula is that when you do have those peak hours you really like to be able to maximize your income and for that you need a certain number of tables.

My little room was was a gold mine, I was pulling 40, to $60,000 a year out of that little room for my self at a time when guys were supporting families on $7.50 an hour. I bought the room but would have liked to have had maybe 5 more tables if I was opening it.

My electric was not what you have to pay today, ins, was cheaper, help was cheaper. I bought cloth by the roll and covered my own tables. I have a feeling many rooms back 40 or 50 years ago may have made in their in those years dollars more money then a room may make today. Who can fade $6000.00 a month rent $900.00 a month electric, I couldn't even guess what the liability insurance would be and so on.

I should add, I'm a really an old man take what I say with a grain of salt maybe my ideas are outdated and nothing I say is relevant anymore.

you, jay, and jerry machin are the only pool room owners that had business sense and made it owning a pool room.

and made it work not because it was just in the right spot for a time or lucky.

Shark Move Part 58 - Verbal Concession

Sounds like he conceded to me, and if someone else heard him say that, I would say that it was right to pick them up and rerack. If no one else heard it, I would for sure double check with him first to make sure that's what he meant. Should you have to do that, no, but some people are that way.
I had a situation happen to me last year where it looked as though my opponent fouled. he went over to the table where they were sitting at and I was already getting up as I was positive he fouled. I then, before picking the ball up, looked at him and said, ball in hand right? He just looked at me like I wasn't there and never said yes or no. I picked up the cue ball and all hell breaks loose with him saying what are you doing, there was no foul. Some pool players are just jerks, no two ways about it.
