I know pool table spots are cheap, but a pain when they start peeling off in the middle of a game. As you probably noticed, most start to lift up (looking from the foot of the table) at 6:o'clock. This is from pushing the rack over them while racking.

Just sand or file a little off the bottom on an angle of each point of the triangle and your good to go. The small gap acts like a ramp to smoothly go over the spot. Johnnyt

so you need to sand all 3 corners top and bottom right ? :) :) :)

not a bad idea though. I wish bars would just get rid of the spots and mark on the felt after the new felt is on.

Alright johnnyt, lousy tip. I've gone thru 9 packs of sandpaper and my Delta rack STILL lifts the spots. :wink:

Thanks Neil. I have enough money,not a fatboy, but enough for the rest of my life. I like retirement. All those bad things I did when I was younger...I saved some of the money.
 
That is a good idea. I actually take it one step further and try to avoid sliding the rack on the cloth at all, because I noticed some tables have wear marks in the rack area from sliding the rack.

I usually either just place the triangle close to its final destination before putting the balls in, or roll the balls up while slightly lifting the rack off the cloth. I do this in the pool hall out of respect for the tables and I probably even do it on crappy beat up bar cloth sometimes out of habit.

they used to have the roller rack.

roller rack had 3 ball bearings on each points. this was to avoid the wear and tear of the rack. it never hit the table so the spots were never affected. i have no clue if they are still in production. if you watch some old accustats they have banners at all the old big tourneys.

We had some of the roller racks at my homeroom. They wore the cloth out faster than any other rack. There were three white wear marks from the "sliders" very soon. We just flipped it over and used the side without the sliders.
