What Glen was saying is the pockets shelves are the same, just the angle the pictures where taken was different, which created the illusion of a different shelf. LOL

This IS a good example of how different points of view can change the appearance of things! LOL

Ray. Look at the wood next to the pocket on those two pictures. It's not the same, imo.

I could be wrong, but I seldom am ;)

I just took some photos that, I hope, show what each corner looks like. Just hand help camera so not very scientific but you can tell everything is the nutz!

Jay and Big Truck are both right:eek::D I do recall the 11 ball was in the opposite corner pocket now that I think about it, but Big Truck is also right about the angle of the pictures, look at the pictures again and you'll see I was more forward of the pocket when I snapped it giving it the appearance of being deeper, while in the second picture I was behind the pocket casting a little giving that pocket the appearance of being a little shorter. I'll post pictures of all 4 corner pockets from the same angle then you can see Jay, all the pockets are exactly the same...I'll get married again if they're NOT!!!:eek:

Glen took pictures of different corner pocket......yes. But the angle of the pictures changes what the shelf depth looks like. Jay was saying that the shelf depth WAS different. The shelf depth CAN look different simply by the camera angle being different. The camera angle was clearly different in Glens pics AND in mine (on purpose). Note how the shelf depth appears to change on my table.

I would bet you "1 million dollars" that the shelf depth is uniform throughout the table that Glen did. ;)

P.S. The table looks beautiful. You are the "Best in the West". I don't know about the East though.

Nope Jay, all the corner pockets are the same. Here's the difference between your Diamond and this GC1. First of all, your table has a ProCut pockets, meaning 2 balls wide at the mouth, 4 1/2" if you will. Then if you place a ball as deep in the pocket as you can against one of the facings, then place another ball next to it, the ball in the pocket is about 40% exposed. On this table the ball deep in the pocket is about 50% exposed, because the pockets are 4 3/8"...and the pocket angles are turned out more than the ones on your table. Your tables pocket angles are cut at 141 or 51 degrees, on this GC1 the pockets are cut at 142 or 52 degrees, in other words, a little less funneling effect on this table vs your Diamond, which results in a few more balls being rejected from the pocket if not hit correctly, although there is a little less shelf area for a ball to rest on in these pockets vs your Diamond, but not much. You'd have the exact playing pockets if I tightened yours to 4 3/8" and changed the angles to 52 degrees, there would be NO difference in play between your Diamond vs this GC1:D

I'm going to recover a Diamond ProAm this morning just like yours Jay, I'll take the same pictures I took of the GC1 and post them here so you can see the exact same object ball set up on a Diamond:D

Thanks for this mini lesson Glen. My table already plays tough enough. Something about how stiff the rails and facings are. If you touch anything going down the rail the ball has no chance. It not only doesn't hang up, it gets rejected from the pocket. :eek:

I think my table plays as tough as many GC's with tighter pockets.
 
Well, I knew (after Jay pointed it out) that it was two different pockets, so that made me right too! And that was the main point in my posts, that the picture was not of the same pocket.

I did however say that it looked like the slate were deeper in the pocket with the 11-ball, and I might be wrong there. But it still looks like it is though.

My monitor/video card kind of suck, are those corner castings painted? If so what paint did you use?

The corner castings were powder coated but first they were media blasted to take most of the dings out. The color is metallic silver.

The table in the OP looks good. But GCIVs is the worst table I've ever played on. Right up there with these barboxes...lol!
