So here is another one of those youtube days. I found a new way to clean my cue taught to me by the greatest expervillage  haven't tried it yet, since I smoke when I am on sideline with my cue, I don't want to start a camp fire. Don't know if it is just me, but I thought this was completely crazy, does anyone here does this?????

This time, DAWG doesn't have to rescue me lol

Happy shooting! :)

I have actually heard of someone doing that before. Haven't tried it myself. Sounds crazy but don't knock it until you try it.

I've heard of people using lighter fluid to clean the cue, but certainly haven't tried it myself. A magic eraser works just fine and you don't have to worry about being a human torch.

On a side note I have tried a powder cue cleaner that you mix with water a long long time ago. It didn't work worth a darn and will never use any liquids to clean a cue ever again. I recently cleaned a cue that hadn't been cleaned in 12 years with a magic eraser and it looks almost brand new.

What is Magic Eraser exactly??? Is it the Mr. Clean product? How does it work?

Thanks.

Yep it's the Mr Clean Magic Eraser. I honestly don't know how it works.....it just does. It takes all that chalk dust off your shaft. After you burnish it it will be like new.

I've tried alot of things, but once I tried the Magic Eraser and denature alcohol, I never looked back. That with 1000 and above sand paper, a good burnish, a little wax and your good to go. Minus wax for some....Ron

I haven't had the chance to try to ME yet either, never let my cue get dirty enough to try it. Whenever my friend tells me that his cue needs to be cleaned, I will try it on his

i just wipe my shaft down with a towel. a little dirt and chalk just shows character. i really like the way a broken in shaft/cue looks

don't do that bro. it could mess his cue up. try it on a bar cue that's about to be retired

Use a little den. alcohol,NOT water with the M.E. Give it a wipe down with a rag and alcohol first, a LITE sanding with 1000 grit to get the top coat of gunk and old left over wax off and then go to work with the Magic Eraser,rinse,repeat....

lol poolplayer I was just kidding. I'm sure the owner at my pool room wouldn't mind me using one of his old beat up cues to try the ME on.

sk8ordie, did you say rinse? as in rinse the cue??? lol jk thanks for the tip.

A magic eraser won't screw your cue up.

I don't bother using alcohol on it. The magic eraser by itself works just fine.

you would recommend it even on old wood shafts?

Yep
I honestly do not see how it could damage an old wood shaft. The only damage possibilities I can see are with laminated shafts, but that goes much more for burnishing a LS than using a ME.

I will definitely say once again that I don't use denatured alcohol with a ME. I use the dry ME by itself and it works fine by itself so I see no need to add something to it.

After using a ME it will leave a rough sanded texture to your shaft....like if you used a green scrub pad so you will need to burnish it for a better finish.

gunzby, mind going into a bit more detail regarding cleaning a Laminated shaft? (I saw schmelke has a standard shaft and a laminated shaft, how do you tell the difference between the two and what are the differences between a laminated and a standard shaft?)

thanks all!
