The DELTA-13 rack, is it good? too expensive or worth the cost?

I have used a DELTA-13 (now Delta-13 Elite) rack for 9 months now and simply LOVE it! When using my own at my local pool room, I show fellow players how the 10 ball (when playing 10 ball), just sits there and only gets moved when another ball rebounds into it. The only complaint I hear is that it is noisy when racking and it cost $134.95. All things considered though, is it worth it? Does it do the job BEST?

I was skeptical when I first heard about this "high-tech" rack. I mean c'mon, could it really be that good?

It is. Wood warps, plastic bends, and every rack I've used has a problem getting all the balls to touch perfectly. I used the Delta 13 once, and I was actually surprised that it could get all the balls to perfectly come together frozen.

Is it expensive? Yes. Is it probably the best rack out there? Yes. Is it worth it? Depends how much money you have!

I failed to mention that there is a regular DELTA-13 rack, not fancy, retail priced at $69.95. Same engineering, same specs.!

I have a Delta-13 Elite too, and love it, but there's a far less expensive model

I have a Delta-13 Elite as well (that model is the one that costs $134.95), and simply love it. In fact, I'd purchased a MasterRack with carrying case a while back, and have since removed the MasterRack from the carrying case (the MasterRack stays home), and use that carrying case with the Delta-13 Elite now.

The Delta-13 Elite goes with me wherever I play pool now, and the MasterRack's carrying case makes it really convenient to do so.

Also know that there's a far less expensive version of the Delta-13 available now, and unlike the Delta-13 Elite (which is a 6-piece unit that is screwed together), the "standard" Delta-13 is a one-piece unit. Meaning, it's machined from a solid billet of aluminum in one piece, not bolted together from 6 separate pieces like the Delta-13 Elite is. The "one-piece" Delta-13 is $69.95 -- half the price of the Delta-13 Elite. Here's the product information for both the Delta-13 Elite (the 6-piece unit) and the Delta-13 (the one-piece unit):

However, as far as I can tell from the website, the Delta-13 Elite is the only one that can be customized with engraving, etc.

Hope this is helpful info,

i have the cheaper version and love it, althoug it is loud. i kinda thought they should have put some kind of foam or plastic into the gulleys on the outside of it to dampen the noise. do any of you know if the elite actually racks better? i cant see how it would. if not, whats the purpose other than looking better?

It is serious loud. Clinkity-clankity loud. Racks great, but noisy as all hell.

I love these racks and I love that many of the bigger men's events are using them now. Yes they are expensive, but I'm pretty sure they have lifetime warranties to never warp. So all poolhalls should have them, if they just re-buy new racks a few times when the plastic or wood ones warp/bend it makes these worth it.

Hope It's worth the money I just ordered one--but of course I'm one of those people that have to have everything new and improved--- will update after it gets here.

I never used one until I visited Fatboy's crib. It is very loud, but puts up a nice tight rack.

I'm gonna order one!!!!!!!

Russ.....

I've only had mine a few weeks and really like it even though it's noisy. Wouldn't pay retail though. Got an SVB autographed Delta 13 Elite on here for 1/2 retail shipped.

Hi Wayne,

Whats the warranty on the economical model and how long has this company been in business? AND what MY price?

You're forgetting one thing... How often someone is going to steal the $70 rack from the poolroom...

At my current place of choice people are always swiping ball sets, cue balls, etc... I can just imagine how long a $70 rack would last...

They did have these racks at the GSBT event I was at last weekend and they did rack really nice...

They seemed to rack quite well at 9-ball for me...

Thank you. I guess I'll give a try. Less than six months ago I didn't even own a piece of chalk. Now I have a table, two nice players, a breaker, a jump cue, three cases, five boxes of chalk, and all the little tip gagets. Now a $70 + S&H rack. I wonder how I got along w/o all this crap for 50 years of playing? I'm getting just as bad as the rest of you on here:smile:. Johnnyt

you don't have a problem johnnyt--I just ordered a cue lathe for $470.00 to change my own cue tips and polish shafts.
