No Tour
With no professional mens tour to speak of isn't every American Male Player an Amateur???? I would think you would need to have a sanctioning body where people qualify to be pros, short of that I can't imagine a fair way of including some and excluding others.
It maybe the only thing the IPT had right. If the IPT had continued the pros would have tour cards and everyone else would be an Amateur.

WRONG....as mentioned earlier, Bobby Jones was an amateur, and in same year (1930) won the US AMATEUR, the US OPEN, the BRITISH AMATEUR, and the BRITISH OPEN (for a total of 13 majors over his career). BTW, it was his last year playing competitive golf (retiring at age 28!!)- can't top pulling off the GRAND SLAM. Look into his story - remarkable!
I have no problem who they let play in an amateur event. I would just like to see something along these lines, in writing, before the entry fee is due, so each person can decide if the event is for them. Then anyone deciding to enter the event has no reason to complain, and the winner can feel good about the victory.
BTW With the other players that were allowed to play, Larry should have been allowed to play IMO.

EXACTLY. This list can't and shouldn't be used for any other tour because it's biased. CW picks and chooses who he wants on that list and for any "invite" to his "Invitational Championships".
Yes I know he won the U.S, Open in 1996 but it was a few years before that when he entered and won the super billiards expo amateur event, he wasn't a known pro at the time.

What if a up -n - commimg player has a match w/ Price and price hits him w/ a 4/4/ and closes w/ a 5 and out. Well guess what we just lost the possibility of a possibly great player that just said fuc this I quite. I just played in a event drew his older guy n didn miss a godd damn ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading this entire thread, I can see why we disagree. No one has mentioned the obvious (to me). These events are about the money, not the sport! Does Allen care if Larry wins? I doubt it. Allen allowed Jason Kirkwood to win twice in a row before he un-invited him. Bobby Pickle and Ronnie Wiseman winning the BCA 8 ball open events? In the end, it's all about the player sanction and entry fees. Who wins is immaterial to the league owners. As long as we continue to support their National and Regional tournaments, they have no incentive to seriously police the entrants. Lets not even discuss players from Europe

If they (BCAPL, VNEA, ACS and APA) really wanted to keep the "pro" level players out, they could do it. Simply hire one or two people whose job it is to join all the tours, subscribe to all the "pool" magazines and websites like AZ Billiards. Once they spot the same names popping up across the tournament trails, the name gets added to a master list and distributed to each sanctioning body. That however would be too easy! If in doubt, see paragraph one.
Here are a few interesting names; David Alcaide, Darren Appleton, Glenn Atwell, Tony Chohen, Gabe Owens and Shawn Putnam. Anyone want to argue whether they are professional pool players? They are all on the Master Player list of one sanctioning body (I didn't check more). They are the obvious ones. I bet we can all name at least five more who were at SBE playing amatuer events. Obviously not as well known except to us players.

Cardiac, you are 100% correct. I wish it could get a lil more policed, I know it can. But like you said, entry$$$$$ fee's is the bottom line, I guess..........
