Well, another pool story from way back.

Me and Scott Wright were on our way to Myrtle Beach. Scott Wright was all offense and a "spoiler" to a lot of pros and roadplayers. He even beat Tony Ellin a couple of sets once. Then quit on him. That is another story. We had just broken the seal on Jack when we were about an hour outside of Florence.

Mixing some small drinks (so not to be so fu@#ed up when we got to the poolroom at the beach), we were listening to "Mainstreet" on the radio. Along came this convertible with fuzzy "eightballs" hanging from the rearview mirror. There were two guys in it and raising the beers high as they passed us. "Let's fu#$ with'em" Scott screamed over "pool halls, the hustlers, and the losers". So, I caught back up with them. I was in my Alpine White 944 that I just bought. Great little car. Anyway, Scott leans out of the window and points to the fuzzy dice. "You play?"
"Yep, why? You want to lose some money?" They yelled back. "If you do, we're getting off at this next exit. Come and get you some." Well, you couldn't have laughed harder than we did. What are the odds? We had driven and stopped at six poolrooms and not a bit of action, and we pass some dudes on the interstate and they invite us to "get some."

Well, we followed them to what looked like an old convenience store. By this time, we'd drank a few and were set on "go." And they were too. Two bartables, and one 4X8 that leaned just a little toward the jukebox. Took a while to figure this one out. Scott and Bilbo decided to play some twenty a game eight ball, later switching it to six ball. Scott wins $620. They guy was getting tortured so bad that if he broke and made two, missed, he would just rake'em. So he quits and jumped all over what he thought was just the backer...me. $220 more and we were back in the car. We promptly checked into a hotel in Florence and finished off the Jack. Pretty good start to our ten days in Myrtle Beach.

Moral...always scream out and fu#4 with anyone with an "eightball" fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror. You just never know.

LOL at the moral and the title. Good story.

Fun stuff!! And the moral is perfect and absolutely true :groucho:

Heres one I always smile about. My buddy (awesome player) and I get asked to go out and play this guy who's supposed to shoot strong at a local bar. Mind you, at the time (years and years ago), I have no drivers license, wrong tags on the car, no registration..you get the picture. There is also a loaded .357 mag in the trunk (also illegal) just in case..lol. So my buddy procedes to rip this guy open to the tune of $800. Now the guys had enough, and starts jawing about playing me. I say no (he plays about my speed, and I didnt wanna chance it), and my buddy says go ahead, he'll cover it. So i pound this guy for another $350 or so, and he finally quits. Heres the best part. Its the dead of winter, and the guy goes to leave..comes back in the bar and says his car wont start, and needs some help. We all go outside and hes standing next to a 1975 or so Pacer that is held together with Duct tape and wire !!! He tells us there is no starter in the car, and we gotta push him !!! I'm laughin my azz off as me and about 8 other guys push him out into the road, and down about 100 yards till he pops the clutch and it roars to life !!! Away he goes..fenders flappin in the wind, and about $1200 lighter than when he showed up. I'll never forget that. :D

Good one. Oh the good times. Reppin' you.

Nice stories both of you. I love reading everyone's stories and experience, I find it very enthrilling and entertaining. Wish more people were willing to take their time to write about their past experiences. Nothing better than a good story! I think mainly I like reading about them is I don't get to do any of those things :D

Thanks fellas!

P.S. The guy should've use that $1200 to buy himself a new car, but it is better that you have it than someone else right? :)

Happy shooting! :)

Fun story...gave you a greenie. But a bit of advice...don't go bragging up the 944 among Porsche fanatics...it's kind of like bragging up a Cuetec cue on this board...

I wasn't gonna say anything.

Jason...I got tired of caring for it. I had a '72 911S for decades. In 2007, I passed it on to a dear friend in Istanbul. For some reason, the more coveted the car became, the less I enjoyed it.

Wasn't really bragging about it. But, I've also owned a 356, 911S, 928 S-4 and another Carrera. For the money, the little 944 was a cool little ride. For the jerk your head effect, the 928 S-4 was one wild ride.
