I am going to start looking for an 8 1/2' table shortly. Which companies make a good playing solid table? Thank you. Johnnyt

My brother has an 8' Fischer Pool Table by C.L. Bailey, which is a good table.
I am not sure whether they make an 8.5' table.
 
Okay.. I'll bite. 8 1/2 foot pool table? Aren't the sizes normally 3.5 X 7, 4 X 8, 4.5 X 9?

You know, twice as long as they are wide?

Have not heard of a 8.5 foot pool table. I have heard of "over sized" 8 footers, but maybe it's just a terminology thing...

I'll keep posted and maybe I'll learn something new..

I am pretty sure that oversized 8 footers are the 8 1/2 foot table he is referencing. I am not sure of their exact dimensions, but they are somewhere between an 8 and 9 foot table.

I know that Olhausen makes them FWIW.

Thanks sde, but from Texas is to costly to ship to Florida. I'll find one local, it might take some time though. Johnnyt
 
Johnny, I'm pretty sure Brunswick, Olhausen, and Diamond all make oversized 8's.....and they all make damn good tables in my book....good luck in your search....
 
I remember playing only once on oversized 8's, they were Gandy Big G's, played pretty well.
 
Diamonds 8 footer is a 45x90 rather than 44x88. GC's are 46x92 on the oversize 8's
 
I have an oversize 8' Brunswick Century that RKC gave the treatment. It plays good and is very affordable. You can probably find one of these less than 1500 and they are a deal for that.

not trying to high jack!

I have Three Gold Crown IV's...46X92 ....2500.00 with the light and a new piece of 860 cloth...here they are come and get them. 8yrs old.
Big Truck you want to trade two gold crown Nine footers for them?
 
Johnny, check craigslist under tampabay ,sporting goods.I think I saw a add for an oversized 8 ft in the last couple of days,mike
 
8 ft = 44 x 88
8.5 ft = 46 x 92
9.0 ft = 50 x 100

I have a Olhausen 8 1/2 foot table and the rails on it are 1" wider than normal (special order) and it plays great.

I recommend looking on Craigslist in your immediate area. There should be plenty of tables for sale. Keep in mind alot of people that sell 8 foot tables actually have 8 1/2 foot tables and don't know it. Ask the seller to measure from the inside on one side rail to the opposite inside of the other side rail and if its 46" its an 8 1/2 table (or oversized 8 as they are also called).
