Got My A$$ Handed to Me

I played the One Pocket Ghost two weeks ago. Several guys told me I could beat him playing even. We played about 30 games (One Pocket) over the course of three days. He's three games ahead. HE'S THE BETTER PLAYER! Period!

Now I KNOW I need weight from you.

I'm thinking the same thing Tom. I like the Crawdaddy but we all sometimes over rate our games. We like to think of our speed as how we play at our best. But our true speed is usually not quite that good. I've played some great pool at times (and beat some good players), but that just isn't my normal speed.

Just because you may have run 75 or 80 balls once or twice doesn't make you a 70 ball runner. Right?
I believe in results. If you are winning, you are the better player. If you are losing, you're not. K.I.S.S.

I'm pretty realistic Jay. This is my first loser in quite a while. If everyone could've seen the way it went, you'd get the drift of it. I've even asked this guy to play on several different occasions and he's always walked away. Now, I know we all wait on the oppotune time, but this isn't the case. I can name more than ten guys that I've given weight to and beaten that have beaten this guy even. There's all kinds of factors, but I dogged it. I didn't overestimate. He didn't rise to the occasion. There wasn't ice in hell. I dogged it. Four of my friends that were there confirmed my barking out loud. No excuses, and I can't even give you a reason why. I just did. This has happened to me a couple of times before and I've always taken a little break. We both know eachother's games quite well. I've been around him for almost twenty years.

What's not fine is to win $500 bucks and only get paid $300 and have 5 people swear they are gonna pay you tomorrow...wait sorry that's what happened to me last night.

Again? You might need to start bringing a collections expert along with you. :grin-devilish:

I played in a local tourney Saturday and got beat up on win, loss, loss....afterwards, I whipped up on a guy a rarely beat (small stakes), go figure?! The two guys I lost to were below me and the guy I whipped up on!? The tourney was a very short race, but still, I let them both have games that were just too easy. Luckily my side action paid the entry fee and then some....

This game is pretty strange sometimes

All I gotta say is keep your head up, maybe you fell out of stroke, I know that happens to me occasionally. I also realized that when you fall out for a small while, when you get back in you seem to be a fraction better than previously.

Ever had that loss that wanted you to take some time off? Well, I blow two eight ahead sets to a guy that I'm probably a ball favored. Maybe I've been playing too much? Not enough top players (playing guys and mostly giving up weight)? I don't know. I still will come on here and BS with everyone, but it's time to take a breath. I'm gonna hit the gym more and stop chasing action for a little while. Sorry, had to rant. Some losses I can deal with. This one...well put it this way. If he called me three hours away and wanted to play some, I'd have taken off work and headed his way. He came to me. I got beat. Time off time.

I think this is part of the game, you can actully learn from loosing. If everyone decided to take a break just because they lost i dont think
anybody would be playing. You have to pay yours due,s in pool, and as long as you playing you will always be paying and it never stops.
Loosing just makes me practice even harder on the things i dont do well.
Pool is way to much fun besides hunting and women to take a break
from.

I just think I'm "Pool Burnt Out", if that makes any sense.

It makes sense, and you know if you are or if your not. If you really are you probably knew it BEFORE you lost these sets.

If so you need to take your break, lazy play will do nothing but hurt your game IMHO.

Just dont stop posting here :D

I know exactly how you feel. The last time that happened to me I took off from pool for 3 years! I suggest you take a break but not for too long. I had a high run of over 100 balls, after I came back from the 3 year break I never got my game back to the way it was, in 5 years I haven't run past 65 balls.

It happens, i played this girl and no doubt she could play she won the toss and broke and ran so i knew i couldnt take this one lightly, every game after that i ran every rack to the eight and i missed the eight or made the eight and got funny on the 9, and when you play like that you lose.

i made a promise to myself after that happened i would put in 10hrs a day of practice with drills and sparring and eventually give the world the 5 and the break.

you just have to let it go and keep on pushin.

How much did you lose?

The amount isnt that important, I know what it was and it's not a drop in the bucket. It's more about the loss itself and obviously the cash plays into the equation a little bit. He didn't post the dollar amount for a reason and seriously doubt he will.

You older guys need a little more rest than some of us younger guys.

Just get some quality rest and don't mess with Drater for at least a few weeks. :D

Haha, unfortunately it wasn't me. Craw is the reason I haven't gambled in about a month.

Wondered where you went. I kind of miss that once a week hawking me to play.

Truth be told, my day job has taken over my life. Since the crazy lady drove through my bar, I really haven't been back up there to play.

Know that you have a chink in your armor, I'm getting that itch to play again.

EDIT: Oh yeah, we have our monthly barbox tourney starting tomorrow at 1:00pm. Registration @ 11:00
