$1,280.00 added even if only two people show up

Bar Table Tournament in Louisiana (Metairie)

LOL, he speaks da truth :D Joey, any good courses nearby?

Big Perm,
They just got finished with a tournament: http://zurichgolfclassic.com/

here in New Orleans.

I spoke to the Big Easy pool room owner tonight.

The dates are July 11-12.
It is race to 7 in the winners bracket and race to 5 on the one loss side.
Alternate Breaks,
Texas Express Rules,
TWO (2) CALCUTTAS

This tournament will be limited to 64 players.

The $1280.00 is guaranteed if only 2 people show up.

the entry fee is $70 but that includes a $20 Green fee. There will be no quarters and the tables are open.

Word has it that the author of the pool book The Green Felt Jungle will be coming out of retirment for this one.

We invite all players no matter where you are from to come and pass a good time. The only thing I will warn you about is that the tournament may sell out before July 11 so you may want to send in your entry fee ahead of time if you are serious about playing in it.

The word on the street is that Mr. Deep Pockets will be there and he says he will empty out backing RickyP against anybody in the world as long as they give up the break. FTR, I didn't speak to Big Pockets but he is a for real kind of guy who likes to bet it up so if you got yourself a horse that thinks he can outrun the nuts against a banger like RickyP getting the break, let me know because, like I said, I didn't hear it from Mr. Deep Pockets himself but the source is reliable so I would just have to confirm it if you have a horse that wants to go up against one of the lowliest bangers in Southeast Louisiana.

And even if that doesn't attract you, pass on what you are interested in and I will see if I can get you what you are asking for.

Did I say that crawfish are in season and tasting pretty darn good? :D

It's almost time to start fishing for trout. The shrimp are moving in and they are of a rather large size for the beginning of the season and we expect big trout to follow.

...As soon as I see the flyer I will let you all know the dates. Grady Seasons has made an appearance in New Orleans a time or two. Maybe it would be a fun trip for the two of you. While I've had the privilege of meeting Keith McCready, it would be a special honor to meet you, Jennie.

A roundtrip ticket on AirTran.com from D.C. to New Orleans can be purchased as cheap as $250 but that is those Internet low fare specials.

July might be a good time for us to travel. New Orleans is the only place I've never been to for pool. I've seen what the Northeast has to offer, I've been to Florida, and I traveled to Vegas.

That leaves New Orleans -- BEAUTIFUL DIXIE -- and California, though I do have a special fondness for the Heartland -- Iowa, in particular. It might be a nice cross-country trip for us, if I can swing it with work. :)

Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

I'm sure Humphrey, Casey, RickyP, Dot and the rest of the gang would love to see the both of you. Keep us in the loop. I've always wanted to take a trip on a train. (Your tune reminded me of that. )

Joey, how long of a drive is it? I mean, from Fayetteville. You drove, right?

No, I flew in for the Great Southern Billiard Tour Championship.

Driving, I think, takes about 12-13 hours.

The Calcutta doesn't start until 12:00 Noon.

Just send in your entry fee ahead of time and leave at Midnight and you should arrive just in time for your first match of the day. :)

Pick up Drater on your way down and he'll keep your motor running at it's highest RPM's. :)

Still haven't heard back from ol' Drater after his last mentioning playing a little more. Not sure if he likes the seven on the barbox. Not drink for drink anyway.

I'll be there

:D Even though I haven't played in two months and won't be able to play again until June (coaching spring football) I wouldn't miss the opportunity to play at The Big Easy as I know the food will be great, the equipment will be top notch, and the hosts Casey & Ray are close friends. This one will fill up fast so put me down Casey, pay you when I see you. I might even shoot Craig's nuts in on the bar table, lol. :D :p :D

if any players from florida are going, pick me up on the way i live in jax.

im a cheap road partner i only eat fish and rice like the dude in my avatar:cool:

I don't see why more pool rooms/areas don't do this. $1280 added = 64 players x $20 green fees. So this room owner is basically gambling that 64 players show up for him to be even on his added money. And in the dead of summer, to have his pool room filled with 50-60 players and then added spectators is a bonus.

For the players it is a good deal as well. On a bar table, race to 7 - average 11 games per race, it would cost you $5.50 a match. Go 2-2 and you are ahead of the green fee.

awesome

i can vouch for the Big Easy's food....it is very good for "bar food"....and the bartenders there are great, true new orleansy people.

I used to live a few hundred feet from that place, great place for league players and bangers....fun atmosphere (4 bar tables, 2 9 footers if i remember right (may be 2 8 footers).

I may make the short drive over for this one, thanks for the post Joey!
