Would you consider going to a pool tournament if the entry fee was $70 and the green fee was $20 (GF included in the $70). No quarters but played on bar tables 9 ball races to 7, DE and open to ANYONE. Maximum 64 players allowed.
Thanks,
JoeyA
The fact that those guys would be there would make me want to play more.I'm not sure if I would play. The format sounds great, but with a $50 entry fee, and over $1000 added, there's a 100% chance that guys like: Gabe Owen, James Walden, Scott Frost, and a slew of others would be there to take that money.
"Open to anyone" tourneys have mixed benefits. You get a lot of great players in the same building, maybe even breed some action, but not many guys like me who play "just OK" aren't going to want to donate their money to go 2 and out.
On the other hand, it's hard to say if it's better than playing in a 32 player field w/ $10 entry, against the strongest local players, for a chance to win $90 if you take first...
I think I read somewhere once that it's VERY hard to make money playing pool.![]()

Ditto, $70 is a cheap lesson to play with one of the best.....and just think if you caught your top gear and made it close....or maybe played lights out and found a way to win....legendary....$70 is cheap for that kind of experience....
Granted, I'd probably end up playing some other banger like me, dog it, and just donate![]()
you'd get stuck with me in the first round...we'd both not play well at all, you'd win, I'd get ticked and say, "ok bud, golf course, as soon as we're both out!"
