Dear BCA Pool League Operator,

Thank you for your overwhelming support of the 33rd Annual BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships ... known as the “The Greatest Pool Tournament in the World!” We hosted over 6,900 amateur players, 2 televised international pro events, 3 live internet video feeds, and CTS tournament software with live on-line charts (an industry first).

We also want to thank you for sharing your success with us for the 2008/2009 league year. We currently support 60,441 members in 458 leagues, in 46 states, 7 Canadian provinces, the Bahamas, Portugal, and Spain.

We have some great plans for the future of the league. To properly serve your many requests for more and bigger events, the BCAPL membership fee will be $15 for the new league year ... which starts June 1 (next Monday). We wrestled through some long and hard planning sessions before settling on the fee increase. In the end, we listened to our League Operators and to our own mission statement: “More choices for all players.”

The existing fee has been a constant for the last 12 years and the increase will allow us to offer more money and more events for all your players. Now, we need you to step up with suggestions for future tournaments, and ideas for special events. With your input, we can help bring a state or regional event to your area.

Thank you once again, and please forward your questions and suggestions to info@playCSIpool.com or call (702) 719-7665.

CSI ... more choices for all players.

Hmmm... I've been paying $15 annual membership fee since I joined the BCA five years ago. Hmmm....
:p

Now my question is why the 50% INCREASE in the middle of a Recession.

I thought it was only 10, but my you League operator was skimming. Now my question is why the 50% INCREASE in the middle of a Recession.:(

I just got my league sanctioned for the first time this past season. This will not go over to well in my league. Especially jumping from $10 to $15. I think its a bad move on BCAPL with the way the economy is right now. You would think they would want to increase membership not decrease it. I might have go back to a non sanctioned league.

In my league its a 100% payback. I took the BCAPL fees right out of the league money so that the player wouldnt have to pay for it up front.

My God,Its $5............Ya, maybe you should go back to a non santioned league.God forbid anyone support pool in anyway..........Its $5.

Our BCA league fee is $ 20.00 a year.

It appears your fee is going up an $ 5.00 per year to $15.00.

Seems like a small price to pay to have a local and national pool league organization.

I think the annaul fee of $ 20.00 is a bargain. The BCA is the best league operation I have experienced and the Nationals are run professionally.

Also if they can't make a profit why should they bother with all the work and aggrevation. I want the local operator and the national to be profitable so I have a league to play in.

Exactly.;)

NO DEAL! my point was valid.

$5, enough said.

If the players can go out and have a couple beers at pool they can afford $5 extra.

CPA (APA in the states) here charges $26.50 a year to us for a membership fee. Id be happy to just pay $15.

My offer for the $7 still stands (canadian)

This has got to be one of the dumbest questions I have ever read on AZ -

If it is a recession, than things will cost more. Ask the guy at the gas station, why he is raising gas prices in a recession.

But maybe you should apply to be the comptroller for the BCAPL - then if you can get all of their current expenses reduced in this recession they won't have to charge you 5 bucks more.

I think we should be more positive here. These guys just put on a huge event that had as much participation during this tough year as it had a year ago.

If we're going to have any regional and national coordination, then these guys need money to do it. $15 is not that much money. It's been $10 for quite a while.

These are the good guys.

They're the national league organization that's really trying to create new events, grow the sport, and bring things together.

If you guys can't afford a $5 bump / week in league fees in ANY economy....you can't afford to play pool in general. Sell your cue, case, glove, your goofy league chalk-holder and focus on getting a job that pays more.

Sorry for being a dick... but this is just so damn nitty I feel like throwing my laptop out of my office window right now. .... here come the red reps, oh well.

I know its only $5, but this league I run has never had a sanctioned in the past it was always voted down big time. So I told the players this past season was the only way I was going to run this league from now if it was sanctioned. Now the players in my league will see it as a 50% increase in sanctioning fees.

The key piece we are missing here is they are raising the cost by a mere $5/player, but they are asking us to give them ideas for additional events they can run with the money.

hmm, pay $5 and get another BCA event or two that I could play in? Seems pretty simple to me.

It makes CoCo mad because he is one of those guys who doesn't purchase anything at the pool room and is always looking for a handout. If you don't like it, don't play, I'm sure there are others that feel this way as well. Eat one less hamburger this week, problem solved.

Lock the window Spide, cause sooner or later you're going to find out it's not $5 per week; it's $5 per YEAR -- that works out to maybe 15 cents per week...
