I need you guys to help me out. I'm headed for Florida in a couple of weeks, where is "The Room" in the Orlando area. Lets' hear from Fla. players.
Thanks, Paul

You have 2 Clicks location. One is on South Semoran (near the Airport) and the other is in Casselberry.

Jimmy's is on Orange Blossom Trail. This is the best room if you're looking for action.

Corner Pocket is located on East Colonial Drive. Nice tables - non smoking section.

Fast Break in Longwood. Very nice room.

Sportstown is located on East Robinson downtown. This is the oldest room in Orlando. Mostly 8 foot tables, two 9 footers.

There are 3 Backstage Billiards locations - Southchase - Lake Buena Vista - International Drive.

If you are going to be here in a few weeks, Johnny Archer and Nick Varner will be having a clinic at the Trick Shots located on Lake Underhill road.

I have a busy schedule, and really don't get much time to get out to the rooms anymore, but I always make time to meet other Az members when they are in town, even if it to just stop and say hello or meet for lunch.

Paul

I'll ditto what Blackjack said...check in with me for maybe a lunch and a set or two...

Mike

Jimmy's Billiards

Ask for Jessie or Glenn from Trinidad, tell them Mike from the Flamingo told you where to find them.

Sometimes Jessie hangs out here at A-Z, his screen name is Poolshark33 I think.

I believe that Jessie is Poolstar31

Yup, Jimmy's has been the "action room" for at least the last 20 years.

I haven't been to Corner Pocket (417 and SR 50) in years, it's 40 min from me, but it WAS the nicest place to relax and play. The owner was a bit of an NO-ACTION nazi, but he kept an immaculate place. I don't know how things have changed under the new owners.

Sportstown used to be the tough guy kiddie room in Orlando, lots of 19-25yo cheap action. Again it's been 16 years since I was in there, but I do remember the owner Lee, he's a player, and plenty tough for most folks.

There is some to be had elsewhere around town, The 2 Clicks locations have tightened GC 9' tables with 860 on them, and there's generally some guys there who will play, ranging from older 1P types to younger APA 6's looking for $20 a set 9-ball.

Can't vouch for Trick Shots except Altamonte, I know Tim and George were hanging out there, and they'll play. They have BUCKET pockets, but hey... they make me feel like I played good.

Fast Breaks is closest to my house and has FAST 9' Connely "Ultimates" that play like they are 4"-4.5" pockets (the rails are really bouncey). There are several players there, and action for most level of player. It's the furthest room North in the Orlando area, so it's kinda on the circuit the locals make looking for a game.

Really depends what level of action on what game and what type of equipment.

I see Lee about 3-4 times a week when I stop in to Sportstown - Lee is definitely a player! Sportstown is still a very nostalgic room with a friendly atmosphere. Not much action during the day, but you'll definitely find action there if you look for it.

You should really check out Corner Pocket - it's still a very well maintained room. They started a $12 flat rate all day, and they have a 10 ball tourney on Monday's (Jesse told me about it last week). It's definitely worth the drive out there, although you have to deal with all of the orange barrels on Colonial.

The Trick Shots location on Lake Underhill has two GCIV's that are well maintained (albeit pricey at $20 an hour) - plus a 9 foot Olhausen. I've only been there twice and I haven't seen anybody playing on those tables. lol

You are definitely right about the pockets on the GC's at Click's. Mike House really tightened up those corners.

Agreed, and extremely well put! :)
I wouldn't mind meeting a fellow AZ'er myself. Let me know!

Corner Pocket is and has been under new management from that prior Nazi.
:)
Trying to bring the pool players and action back.
I also run the 10 ball tournament on Monday nights.
However, I will be there next week, then I won't be for the following 2 weeks due to the Great Lakes Classic in Indiana, so a couple of friends will be running it.

Thanks guys! I'll be bringing some SS firewood for some opinions & for sale.
Paul Sumrall, S&S Cues Feel free to call me; I'll arrive Monday, the 21st

What is the equipment like at Corner Pockets?

Still GC's?

Simonis?

How tight are the pockets?

Thanks!!

The equipment is well maintained - same tables - most of them have been recovered with Simonis.

The pocket size will vary from table to table - there are some that extremely tight - some not.

Like I said in my earlier post, it's definitely worth the trip out there and you won't be disappointed.
