Which game is harder: pool or golf?

Which is more difficult: pool or golf

Never at any time during the course of a golf match can a player place his opponent's ball behind a tree and force him to hit it from that spot.

In pool this is common.

For this reason alone golf seems the more difficult game.

Golf is harder. In addition to all the reasons mentioned, the obstructions in golf are 3D, and the lie of the ball is different every time.

This topic is actually silly the more I think of it. I'm just going to say neither one is harder than the other. I'm sure Tiger or Phil would say pool is tough because they probably haven't played much and probably suck at it. Like I said in an earlier post, golf is an expensive game, therefore harder to invest as much time into. Until you invest the exact same time into each game, maybe you'll have a better idea. Of course pool players are going to say golf is harder. This is AZ BILLIARDS....not AZ GOLF. They're probably going to say hockey is harder too.

The lie of the pins in bowling are the same EVERYTIME. That must make that game a piece of cake. Don't mean to attack your post...just using an analogy.

Pool. There's no margin for error in pool. Plus, I'm sick of hearing golf announcers saying how much pressure is on this putt!? OOOOOOOo.....sooo much pressure lol. They miss thier putt, they get 58th place and earn a 80k paycheck and go back to your posh mansion in Malibu. Pool on the otherhand....you miss that 9 ball and you're sleeping in your car and eating cracker ketchup sandwiches. Tell me who has more pressure??

Even if you make the 9 ball on the pro pool tour and win 1st place you are still eating cracker ketchup sandwhiches. Golf is 100 times harder than pool.

This is an apples and oranges debate. Its like arguing which country has the best looking women, well maybe that's a bad analogy.

But really its like comparing MMA and boxing or Bass fishing and fly fishing. These disciplines have their own set of challenges. The one that bothers me the most is the ketch up cracker, spam on a hot plate and thunderbird celebration dinner for winning a nine ball tournament.:(

Pool or Golf

In pool you have an opponent who is trying not to make a mistake while causing you to make one. After every break is a different course to play, with you having to make decisions of being offensive or defensive. The focus pool requires under enviornmental pressures to me is greater.

I personaly am tired of the comparison of pool and golf. There should be a law against any pool announcer on a televised pool event live or taped mentioning a pool players or announcers golf game. To me it is demeaning to the sport of pool/billiards.

Imo pool and golf are apple and oranges. Both require skill levels requiring a lifetime to become a master. Until I see a golfer throw his opponents ball into the woods behind three boulders, smile and say "your on two better get your jump club" I vote for the games of pool.

Throw Formula One Auto Racing into the mix and there will be no question as to which is more difficult ...

To me, Pool is more difficult than Golf as I MUST make all the (necessary) Balls before my opponent gets an opportunity to do the same ... In Golf, my opponent is "The Course" and not the other players, whom just happen to also be playing that day.

Well, let's see... both in their respective sport line up for the first shot. The golfer misses the hole by 50-75 yards. He says "Did you see that great shot!"

In pool you can hit the ball anywhere on the table , even without aiming at any particualar direction and if it falls into any hole , anywhere he says " Did you see that great shot!" and it actually counts.

The pool player takes his first shot. IF he was so bad as to miss the hole by even a mere 20 yards, well, he would have his picture posted for all to see in the Hall Of Shame, he would be barred from coming within 500 yards of any pool table, he would cause laughter to ring out around the world.

If the golfer is as close to the hole as you are in pool , his shots are considered a gimmie , followed by total ridicule if he misses.

The golfer gets a mulligan, the pool player gets to sit and watch his oppponent win after making an errant shot.

Psst , there are no actual muligans in golf.

The golfer gets usually about 36 shots to put 9 balls in the hole, the pool player usually gets only 9 shots to do so.

'Cept the golfer has to cover around 7 thousand yards of 'green' to do it. Pool is what , 9 feet at most ?

The golfer needs a caddy to tell him what club to shoot with, how to hit it, ect. The poolplayer gets no one to coach him. He has to be smart enough to figure out what to do on his own.

What's there to figure out in pool ? The ball goes in the hole and all you need is a single wooden stick to do it with.

These are fun.

As far as competition I think all sports are equal. We all deal with the same variables. The stroke in pool is much easier than the golf swing but it is the same for everyone. There are so many more variables of the course, muscles and joints involved in golf. There is less of a learning curve in pool than there is in golf or tennis. Almost anyone can hit a cue ball immediately but it takes a little practice to even make contact with a golf ball or return a tennis ball.

To me they seem comparatively even.

Both require a high level of concentration. In pool you have the break to start it off. In golf you have the drive. In golf they have different courses. In pool every time you break it is a different course. In golf you can play a textbook game with one mistake and lose. The same goes for pool.

One difference I can see is in the break and the drive. When you drive the ball great off the tee straight down the fairway you are guaranteed great position for your next shot. In pool when you break great you aren't guaranteed anything position-wise except a great break.

Big Perm...That's for sure! LOL  The biggest thing that make golf harder, is that you have to learn to move your WHOLE BODY, accurately and repeatedly. In pool, you only have to learn to move ONE PART of your body (your forearm), accurately and repeatedly.

Golf...

I've seen many a banger run a rack of 9 ball (including me).....I have yet to see a hacker shoot par on 9 holes....
