Does your Room have a DRESS CODE, and Conduct Code POSTED

Many year ago I use to play in a Room in North Hollywood California, he the owner had a Big Set of Rules post by the Houseman Desk. Simple stuff like NO SMOKING over the Tables, etc.

Many violations would get you one waring, other were a 86ed for life.

I have seen dress code in a few places. I found the easy we to detour unwanted or undesireables just charge a cover charge $2.00 is what it takes most of the time most dont want to break there last $20.00 on hope and check id's at the front door this realy gets them because they cant get more then 5' into the place and are asked to leave if no id and by the way sir it's a $2.00 cover to come in.

The poolhall I go to charges a $1.00 and very rarly have a problem now. Maybe 1 small aurgumentt with a few punches if any bouncers get to them quick.

I did go to one poolhall if your wearing cloths that look like you sleep in them your not welcome... If you need and dont have on a belt or suspenders to keep you pants on upto your waist your not welcome... there were a few more but those i remembered the most.

My friend use to own a pool room in FLAGSTAFF he charge non Player a $3.00 Cover FEE, gave a COUPON for $3.00 that could be use for anything he sold in 30 days of the Issue Date.

He had one enterprising student who collect the Coupons from fiend until he had the coupon necessary for a Meucci, and Case, got it for like 1/2 off Dave price with his friend coupons.

I like that idea i was thinking free soda or ice cream but it never crossed my mind for a coupon towards another purchase.. I like it thanks..

nope. it's hard enough to keep pool halls open (from what i can tell) doesn't seem like a good idea to send business away

I'm sorry but Stockton needs everyperson it can get into what it calls a poolhall same with Tracy poolhalls most have closed down. I talk to Able & Steve most of the time. The bars get more poolplayers then the poolhall does. I talk to the owner of fasteddies he is happy with the way his tables are and everyone calls me to talk to him and he dont want it.

Sacrmento charges $1.00 cover charge and its the nuts waiting list to get a table no fights no drunk and disorderlies even the old timers enjoy hanging out more. It depends on what the image of the poolhall how you want people to remember it and what brings them back. Classiness or fights and arguments.

I thought about buying bobadilla on eldorado but it needs to change its image to be more kid friendly and not a poolplayers paradise so put in coin ops and a bunch of video games and charge a dollor to keep the cheap ones out.

Stockton has a very unique economy, and it is not what i would call strong. Having live in the Central Valley for almost 20 years, Stockton was always one of the area that toughed it out. Lots of season ag. related job, then those worked go back to existing, and eaking it out until next season.

Sacramento has a strong economy with lot of state and federal jobs, plus you got Roseville up the road from Hard Times with lots of wealth in the sierra foothills.

Love that idea, and it would be noisy with the kids, and Games, but the owner would love the extra income i am sure.

people walk into a business looking to spend money and are sent away because they're not dressed well enough.

Friends son owns a Sport Bar, that is really nice. He has a Dress code posted outside to keep a certain element out.

He was a COP 14 years, and I guess he know who he want as his customers, and he he just as soon go down the street to the other Sports Bars that allow those who do not dress per his code.

I feel I know quite a bit about this subject. My dad owned a pool hall in Hesperia, Ca. Hesperia is in the High Desert midway between L.A. and Vegas. It was a nice room with 14 tables, actually for the area was almost upscale, my dad enforced a dress code for the 5 years we had the room, and enforcement was a nightmare. We didn't allow men to come in with tank tops, back then all the guys wore tank tops especially in the summer. Backwards hats and Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Kings gear was also banned. I don't know that the dress code avoided many problems but we argued with a lot of people over it. I think cover charges the are credited towards table time or drinks is a better way to go.

Btw the room on El Dorado you speak of was established by my Grandpa back in the 60's, he sold the room to Able in the early 70's. It was a great room back in the day, I hate to see it in the condition that it is now. I really wish it could be rehabed.

Did you dad make money post DRESS CODE?

Lots of places use a dress codes to keep unwanteds out, some country clubs make members wear tie in the dinning room at night. If you want to eat there dress per rule, or go else where.

ehrm....

Okay so this is off topic, but this thread did make me think of something very slightly similar.

Almost 10 years ago, I once went to a pool bar here in downtown Sacramento (the very one where Dorothea Puente used to cash social security checks). In the ladies' restroom there was a large, handwritten sign prohibiting any drugs or sexual acts in the restroom.

I never went back there- not because anything bad actually happened during the time I was there, but just that they had that sign up really scared me. I've never seen anything like that in a ladies' room- ever- before or since.

...the mind wanders...

Dorothea Puente the killer landlady of Sacramento. That is funny, and the bit about the ladies' restroom there was a large, handwritten sign prohibiting any drugs or sexual acts in the restroom. Is also funny but I know the area and lets say it is not a nice Sacramento neighborhood.:o

Thats funny I think I know the place Roy Fudernick and a few old time regulars talk about the places that are closed now but was were they all started at at one time or another.

i only play in rooms that let me play barefoot,,,,,,, and they all do:thumbup:

lol glad I'm not the only one, my uncle would never let us wear our shoes shooting in his game room when we were kids....its still a habit to this day...if we are matched up playin one hole, and I kick off my shoes the banks will fall like rain...just somethin I do when I'm really comfortable. I especially do that here at the fast eddies...it gets soooo HOT my feet just pour sweat even with sandals on.

Up in Oklahoma they got a few really nice pool halls with some stipulations, no beanies, skull caps or holes in jeans, no team uniforms (like nba and such) they had a problem at one time with gang colors an such which is why the jersey thing came into play. Down here there is a no slabbing LAW, meaning you can't hang your pants low...not really a pool hall thing just a public law. To tell you the truth I am glad it exists, I got tired of seeing the cracks of these disgusting people, its unsightly and trashy. Now you get a 500 dollar fine and up to 30 days in jail for trying to show off your a@%....Good riddance.
