I was thinking of using foam tape inbetween the slates and clamping them together, screw them and trim with a blade but relized you would have to do it over and over again when a close to perfect wheel already exsist's... Called liquid dowels, superglue and that perfect crack and chip filler that all hacks hate BONDO....It sets up faster then they can work....

Well the crack being only .003 wide, I doubt mcuh bondo or anyhting else will be need to bridge the gap. Its hard to get a piece of paper to slide into the seam. I am using body filler now to repair the nick and gouges :frown:

Do you know who makes the liquid dowels?
The thing your not taking into consideration is that your wood frame is moving. In 5 years your .003 might be .010. The other thing is the slate isn't perfect, you may have highs and lows down your seam that switch from side to side. The funny thing is, before I started superglueing the slates together, when I would return to the job the seams would be way off. As a everyday yellowpages mechanic your customer don't notice but when there gamblers, professionals they do.
