What have you used in a cue cause it was handy

Yesterday I was finishing up my daughters cue and didn't have a rear bumper when my wife asked if I had any use for some old suede chaps the mice had eaten. Not long afterwards I had a bumper.

Just curious if any bottle caps or chewing gum ended up as a cue.

When I 1st started I used rings made out of plastic oil cans. Yellow from Penzoil, black from another company. For white I used rings cut from bleach bottles...JER
 
Thanx Jer, that put me to recall a very similar occurrence that I had.
I was assigned to build a Predator shaft for a Seybert's client with matching ring-work for the client's Viking or Mali, not sure which now.
Nothing complicated about it other than it had a PURPLE ring sandwiched btwn 2 blacks. I thought to myself, nobody makes that color ring, where the hell am I going to find that?
Then I remembered seeing a plastic can lid sitting on my brother's dresser that was the exact same color & thickness as the ring I needed to match.
A quick ph call to my bro to tell him I was commandeering his lid and I had my matching ring in short order. Honestly, it was an absolutely perfect match.
 
Thanks guys, you just opened a whole new world of ring materal for me and put a smile on my face!

I used to buy the smooth sterling silver coin blanks and drill a hole in them and use them for the thick silver rings I put in some of my earlier cues.
 
popsicle sticks

i needed some thin white wood strips and as i was mixing up some epoxy, i got to thinking. yeah, just about the size of the craft sticks i use to mix my epoxy. i measureded them and they were perfect.
so,
the popsicle stick.
