He can be a really nice guy.

A few years back when Earl was in his prime.....
A novice 16 year old entered a tourney just for the honour of playing a big time pro.
On drawing Earl in the 1st round the kid who was in awe of him approached Earl with his hand out to shake Earl's hand....before the kid could even say a word Earl interrupts him and says "don't worry about the match kid, ya don't stand a f*ckin' chance"
Needless to say the young boy was devastated.
In a nutshell, that explains why Pro pool players are not millionaires.

he may be a geuninely good hearted guy, but that doesn't make up for these kinds of issues.

I just downloaded Pool Star featuring Earl Strickland for my Ipod. The developers must have read this thread because every time I miss virtual Earl berates me with quotes from this thread. .............................................................................. jk. but there really is such a game and it would have been cool if they would have used Earl more with some famous quips. I hope he is seeing some royalties on the downloads!

It was hill hill at MR. Cues in Atlanta Georgia. Earl Came down to play the 10 ball tournament and without fail was making quite an appearance.
In any case, him and Corey are hill-hill and Earl is straight in on the 7 ball and has to draw back past the side pocket, against the rail. He goes to shoot, Jumps back up, and starts chalking his tip rather thoroughly. With a beedy look in his eye, he stares down Corey and says...
"The only thing in the world that can save you now is a miscue!!"

JB, please can you send me a link to that site? Earl keeps getting screwed on this kind of thing. He came back from a sports store and said "In the billiards area there is a case that says Earl Strickland World Champion on it. I never gave them permission" That company is out of biz now anyway but alittle late now.
