I have a new company website that will be released when Venom Trickshots DVD hits the market in 2 months. Until then I'm devoting my spare time to designing pool clothing. Although I have 5 or 6 different styles that have been deemed 'winners', I've decided to step outside the box and design something completely different. The question is: is this design cool, or just plain lame?

Please give your opinion in the poll above. If you don't like it, perhaps let me know why? All constructive criticism is welcome. :)

I'm older. I like it. What about it makes you think 'older' players wouldn't like it?

I don't like Hustlin or Dead Stroke because of what I believe is a negative connotation they give to pool but I don't see anything in your design to turn me off.

Thanks for the feedback. I assumed that the sort of new 'digital' style wouldn't appeal to the older generation. Clearly I was mistaken. Thanks again.

The key thing I like about it is the way the character truely emulates a pool players stance and focus. This is rare in pool graphics. It seems like it needs to show more pool character and maybe have a saying on it.

By character, it needs to follow one of the classic pool stereotypes like the drunken gambler, hustler, flashy cyclical wealth. . .etc.

Nathan,
I like the artistic part of your design very much. I have never liked the boxed in look of screen printed images in a "square" format. Maybe it is just me. For the most part I don't like to wear advertisements on t-shirts which I wear rarely. I like collared shirts not necessarily button down shirts but they are OK too. I have several decorated Tshirts but they don't get worn too often.

How about making the web address a little more subdued, with maybe a shade of blue that blends into your nice design where it will be a little more difficult to see but will be readable if someone wants to get the web address and go to it.

Maybe cheat on the blue men and the blue dog and give the face and hands a shade of blue too. (not too sure about that one) Don't know if it should be a solid shade or similar to the rest of your design.

Oh yeah, stay away from the sterotypical pool player stuff. There's too much of that already.

Just my personal thoughts.

(I'm not old but some people say my head is hard as a rock).

Thanks for your input Joey. The whole boxed in thing seems to be the most common criticism thus far. I'll definitely take it into consideration.

This is just one of 5 or 6 designs I have in the works. The other design are more traditional and classy. I just really wanted to think outside the box on this one and create something entirely different.

Thanks again.

I also like collared shirts and if I'm going to advertise it would need to be a site I support and or endorse like your web site perhaps.
Like JoeyA, I tend to stay away from the boxed in look. The larger screen printing makes me too warm. Fact is the T shirts I own, all 2 with H.D. logo's plastered all over go unworn.
What I would wear is a shirt with a collar with a small logo on the shoulder or pocket and something discrete referencing to pool. Something that requires someone to approach me for a closer look.
Yep, I'm older. The reason I mention my age is when I was young and full of myself I wore things to get attention. Now being older and mellower I prefer not to stand out blatantly. I let my game or lack there of speak for it's self.
My fishing shirts or jackets simply say Cabela's, Lund, Mercury or Stearns. I hope I didn't violate any rules of advertising here. My pool shirts simply have the name of the place I play and support with the address.
I would consider the shirt if it was just the player and the table. I like the design, but perhaps a bit smaller. The web sight included is fine also except it's still under construction correct?

This was some really good feedback and I really appreciate you taking the time to type it out. I'll definitely consider what you've said, as I agree with all of it.

As for the website question, yes. It won't be up and online until September 1st. The shirts also won't be available until that date either though. :(

In short, runoutmedia.com will be the home of my new movie production company. All new titles will be specifically for the billiard industry, starting with the Venom Trickshots DVD which goes into filming in less than two weeks. I'll then follow that up with another DVD that's tentatively entitled "Billiard World Tour", which I begin filming in October (providing I can get the necessary rights for it). Then I'll be making the 4th installment of Mika's DVDs in the spring that will be 'pro' level instructional stuff.

I'm making a whole series of different types of pool shirts (everything from embroidered collated shirts to tshirts), in hopes of creating a brand for this new company. I want people to see the name or logo on future movie releases and know right away that the product is of respectable quality. Soon I'll be the RunoutMedia guy, rather than the Mika video guy. :p

In either case, hopefully I won't disappoint.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I like it. :cool:Though I am more interested in collar type shirts as you said will be coming on your site. I'll be looking forward to your website launch in September.
Best of luck,
Darin

Thanks Darin. I have very little doubt that I'll be babbling all about it come September. By then you'll probably wish you never heard of it. :p

While you're still in the development stage have you researched what your target age group and gender is? I know where I play the average age; a guess on my part is 30 +.
Some young players play with their parents. Lets say 15 and younger. They're the T shirt kind as well as the 20 - 30 something to perhaps even the 40 something crowd.
Now speaking for myself, I'm 58 and I go with a more clean look outside of work; blue collar. Always have so I may be Abby Normal.
The league I'm in ranges from construction workers to Lawyers. 50/50 split on the dress code. Some dress in slacks or Dockers and casual to pressed short sleeve shirts while the others are in jeans and T shirts.
Last there are the ladies. Again half are dressed in a nice blouse and slacks while the others go from tank tops or T shirts and jeans or shorts.
So if I show up in one of your collared shirts half the people might say nice. If I show up with one of your T shirts the other half might say nice. All conjecture on my part.
