First of all I want to thank Ed Hiller, room owner for his support before, during, and after this seminar. Ed went above and beyond what was asked of him in order to allow this seminar to happen, and my hat's off to him for that, as if it were not for Ed this seminar wouldn't have been able to take place. There's still a few things left to be done to finish up his room, and I'll be taking care of that soon, have some Diamond tables to deliver right now.

Then I'd like to thank Iwan Simonis and Ivan Lee for the donation of the Simonis 860HR Tour Blue cloth we all installed on the tables there, as well as a BIG hand to Felice for her gracious support:D

Next, I'd like to thank Diamond for the contribution of facings, glue, and cushions, even though we were not working on Diamond tables, and a big hand to Greg Sullivan for stooping by to check in on how we were all doing. I know it's a little back-wards, but I think Greg can see what I'm trying to do with mechanics, as we've talked for years now about doing something to bring up the level of knowledge in the mechanic industry to try and insure better support of table owners everywhere.

I'd also like to personally thank Jay and Pat and his crew for being so supportive and organizational until I got there to the pool room. As of noon Thursday of last week I was in Salt Lake City, UT and had to drive like a bat out of hell to get to Alsip, IL by Friday evening.

Next, I'd like thank the Super 8 motel for giving us the great rate on the 10 rooms at a time, even though Ed was paying.

When I got to the room, I was blown away at how many people had actually shown up to the seminar, I never expected that many people, it looked like the amount of people that would have shown up for a free entry pool tournament, with a $1,000 added.

I'm not finished yet, just thinking about what to say next, so hang on with any comments, going to eat breakfast.

I'd also like to thank 3M for their contribution of glue as well, hopefully we'll be able to work out something in the near future for distribution of the glue I use so it's available to anyone seeking it for installing cloth/cushions.

Now, onto some things about the seminar that bothered me. If everyone will remember, in my first posts, I said the "paid" rooms were for "mechanics"...which did not include those showing up that were home owners or wanting to be mechanics, or room owners. This offer kind of got abused as I had mechanics paying for rooms because the 10 rooms paid for were FULL! I guess I didn't get control of this soon enough and make it clear to everyone BEFORE the rooms were assigned. Then I had some people upset with me because they wanted to be reimbursed for the rooms they paid for out of pocket at a $100 plus a night, who were NOT even mechanics!

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the participation of everyone that did show up, but come on guys! Hind sight being 20/20 I could have done a better job of this, and will do so in the future...you can bet on that!

Then, tools and other things didn't get back to who they were suppose to, so some people lost out on some of the things they brought with them, I'm sorry for that, as I lost a few things as well. Those who took things that didn't belong to them....know who you are, and I thank you for that, because this will never happen again in the future.

I assure you there will be more seminars in the near future, but it'll be more of a show and tell kind of seminar based on one table for the demonstration of working on a table, and the viewers will stay behind a rope sectioning off the work area. And question and answers will take place after the show, and the show will only last one day instead of the weekend, no one will get rooms paid for, and if anyone wants to continue doing what they've been shown, then the purchase of instructions and DVDs will be made available at that time, covering the mechanic's industry.

I wish I'd have had more one on one time with every mechanic that showed up, but under the circumstances just couldn't, for that I'm not very happy as well:mad:

What time I did get with Jay, Pat, Bob, Ron, Josh&Bob I really enjoyed and will continue to work with them more on a one on one basis any chance I get, and will make it a point to do so, as I feel like I have so much to share with everyone, but not enough time to do so on a group level.

I hope everyone at least got a chance to see and take part in everything I tried to show everyone, from gluing the bed cloth down to gluing and sticking cushions, matching up and gluing slates where they don't match up using a bottle jack and strap, to installing the rail cloths, I know you missed out on that part Ron, but I'll get a chance to work with you on that soon.

Jack, the 3 days I got to spend with you one on one before sure paid off, as you were a HUGE help showing everyone how to install the bed cloths, sure glad you showed up buddy:D

To A-Tex billiards in Houston, TX. I just got off the phone with Brian who informed me you guys have a Diamond being shipped to you by the 21st of Aug and that I guess I'm suppose to deliver it to you, I didn't know about this delivery and with my schedule can't possibly make that delivery so it'll be by someone else from Diamond that are quite capable of setting up the Diamond and showing you guys how to do that for in the future, if it were on my way to delivering something else, I would have loved to have been the one bringing it.

I guess this is all I have to say at this time, but I'm sure there'll be more said.

Glen, thank you for everything you've done and are continuing to do for the mechanics. I had a hell of a time! I would have posted sooner, but we didn't get back in town until about 3am yesterday. Had to get right back up for a local setup and recover, then had to move a 1908 Brunswick Wellington out of a TIGHT turn basement. Turns out the table's pretty rough, so we're going to end up making some structural repairs to the leg blocks and possibly looking at refinishing the table before recovering.

Anyway, finally got some rest and ready to hit another table this afternoon. Don and I really did learn a lot this weekend. Hell, we thought we were pretty good at this, and here you showed us we've been doing it the hard way for 10 years!!!

Your rail stretches are the stone cold nuts, especially on the bar rails! So much easier to recover rails now with no chance of puckers, wrinkles or shadows.

I wish we could have stuck around to help you clean up the room and put the finishing touches on. I'm glad Ed was so patient with his room being a disaster area for 3 days!!! The group seminar like this was a GREAT idea, but just too hard to keep track of everyone and every tool. Got a little rough at times with some peoples' schedules, having to leave to get back to work, and hotel room confusion and all that. I do think it's that type of situation though that really shows you who's who, and the guys that are really dedicated to being the top of their field.

A few that stick out in my mind are Pat, Bob and the whole crew from PoolTable911. Very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Jack (JZMechanix), you were extremely helpful and it was awesome to seeing you share what Glen had taught you. Jay from A-1 Billiards...I think if it weren't for you, we would have all been sitting around waiting for Glen to show up. I was impressed with how you took control and led the entire group. I can't wait to get the opportunity to work with you again some time.

Glen, thanks again, for everything you taught us and for the opportunity to learn from you. All in one shot, I was humbled by your knowledge at the same time as encouraged by the fact that the outstanding results you get are not that hard to achieve with a little knowledge and dedication.

Thank you.

I'm tickled for you Glen!! Way to go!! :groucho:
