Now would be the time for a dozen or so top women pros and three or four-dozen top male pros to get together and organize a tour. This would be an opportune time for a leader or two to step forward. In my opinion pool would go on the fast track with a co-ed (for want of another word) tour. Maybe start it for advertising purposes with a showcase match with a top female pro and a top male pro matching up in a 10-ball or 9-ball race.
Not since Jean Balukas came on the scene 30 years ago has there been such a buzz about the women playing the men. I hope someone in pool and the players themselves don't miss this opportunity. Tournaments with top female and male pros competing against one another is what's needed to give pool the boost it needs IMO.
Before anyone bashes this idea with the women can't beat men for the cheese…we're not taking about that.
Women won't let men play on there tour…we're not talking about that.
Women can't compete with the top 100 pros…they already have and sent many top male to the "B" side or out of the tournament.
Would they dominate on a male/female tour? No, but they would hold their own and make pool a lot more interesting for just about everyone.
Just to name a few who have and could compete are listed below.
Karen Corr
Allison Fisher
Jasmin Ouschan
Gerda H.
Jeanette Lee
Kelly Fisher
Monica Webb
Helena T.
Yu Ram Cha
Ga Youg Kim
X Pan
And there are probably a dozen more. Johnnyt
