The rematch: Yang vs. Orcullo $10,000 Showdown! (Free live stream)

And i have seen Yang play better than today. His form has not good these few years, seems like he is in some kind of slum.

Which link to use tomorrow?

I was on the teampillipinos one, and it was choppy. Watchable for a bit, but not for hours.

Is there a concensus on the best of the feeds? What was that one someone touted - clubpaco? But someone else couldn't get the authorization email??

Maybe we sould all register at clubpaco now?

Tells me that Yang is one tough fella to beat, but when to with these two world class players, anything can happen. If Yang just has one off day or loses focus for just a few racks, Orcullo can put the heat on him. But for now, Yang definitely has the upper hand, and has control on the outcome of the match. If he continues to plays like this tomorrow, Dennis will most likely lose, even if he brings his A game.

Can someone give me more background info on Yang?

How old is he?

What titles does he hold?

Has he ever played in the US? Where has he played?

What are some good Youtube clips of his play?

The confirmation email came to my junk folder. You may want to look for it there.

Yang is 31. I think he has played in the U.S, but not very much. It is ashame that we don't get a chance to see some of the great players, like Yang, Wu, etc., in the U.S.

Here is some of his past tournamnets that I pulled from the internet: I think this is an old list. He has won numerous Guinness Tour Stops in the last few years, including the season finale last year.

2004 San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour (Hong Kong)-Champion
2004 San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour (Singapore)-Quarter-Finalist
2004 Taiwan 7th Annual Professional Pool Grand Championship-Champion
2003 The First Annual Master Billiard Big Apple 9-Ball Challenge-Quarter-Finalist
2003 World Pool Championship-Quarter-Finalist
2003 San Miguel Asian 9-Ball Tour (Singapore)-Champion
2002 World All Stars Pro Ranking-Champion
2002 World Pool Masters-Last 16
2002 World Pool League-3rd
2002 World Pool Championship-3rd
2002 14th Asian Games, Busan (9-Ball Men Singles)-Gold
2001 Tokyo 9-Ball Open-5th
2001 World Games, Akita-Champion
2001 World Pool Championship-Last 16
2000 World Pool Championship-Last 16
1998 13th Asian Games, Bangkok (9-Ball Men Singles)-Gold
1998 13th Asian Games, Bangkok (8-Ball Men Doubles) with Fong-Pang Chao-Silver 1997

1996 All Japan Open- Champion

This guy actually may have a chance to be a good player some day1:grin-square:

Some more recent achievements:

Silver Medalist 2009 World Games
2008 WPA Asian Nine-ball Tour, Jakarta Leg
2007 WPA Asian Nine-ball Tour, Singapore Leg
2007 WPA Asian Nine-ball Tour, China Leg
2007 WPA Asian Nine-ball Tour, Kaohshiung Leg
2007 Money Game King Showdown
2006 Super Cup
2005 WPA Asian Nine-ball Tour, Kaohsiung Leg

Sadly, Yang's achievement as a teenager were so extraordinary, that its hard for him to live up to them now. He won the Japan Open at the age of 18, Asian games at 20 and 24, and 3rd place at the WPA Championship at 24. Ever since then, none of his achievements have come close to these. So, in this sense, its a disappointment. But, still an amazing player, none the less.

He was not even top 4 in an Taiwan Pro event for a few seasons already. The Taiwan commentators mention he is out of form lately and for quite a while now.

I don't think we watched the same match. I just saw a guy (Yang) playing super pool. I don't know who you were watching. According to the information printed above, it looks like he had numerous wins in 2007 and 2008. And he just won the Guinness Tour in 2008. Maybe no one told him he was in a slump.

He is a has-been!

This may happen to Wu also. He may improve his play, but so will everyone else. The competition is so strong these days, that it is hard for someone to dominate, especially in 9-ball. It seems like there are around 20 players who have a good chance to win the World Championship. A player could be top ten in the world for their whole career and never win a world championship.

Maybe he was talking about Jerry Yang!

LOL.. Jay, I think they expect him to win like a Roger Federer % of the tournaments. Too difficult in pool with these short races.

He won the 2008 Guinness Tour. He was the overall champion. Just another bad year.
