Old case restoration. Please give opinions

I have never done this before so let me know what you think. It was an old Adams case from the 70's that was thrashed. Flea Market $2.00. But the PVC was still good so I had to make new end caps (wood), new latch cuz the old one was gone, and a new recover. I did it in a tan thick Hyde of Naga :) Much cheaper than leather for an experiment. I also cut and hand stitched a whole new inner lining out of a heavy duty black felt. It was an old smelly satin before. I think it turned out sweet! Let me know your opinion. I took a photo of the old black croc vinyl that was on it to show you the difference. This will be the new home for my new LP Custom cue.

The ends look a little lumpy but for a home brew job, and assuming the first one, this turned out nicely. I would be very proud of the accomplishment.

I guess your right Larry I forgot about that thread. Thanks everyone and yes this is my first attempt and a home brew job.

I think for a home brew, it looks great. I could imagine how hard it could've been just to stretch the cover (is it vinyl?) to fit snugly around the pvc. Just a question... Since it looks like the cover is "inserted" on top, is the latch on both sides or just on one side? Maybe a hinge could help and carve out an offset curve at the back to accommodate the hinge... A bag strap or handle may also be considered. For the interior lining, did you include some foam in it or just the lining? The "ends" of the interior edges could be finished off with some edge bands (probably in the form of tape or something) to have a more clean look. But the exterior looks pristine. :smile: Great job although am not a fan of tan (color). just my cents. :grin:
 
It looks great but I have to say that the color is not my favorite too -- mainly because I think it gets dirty easily. Other than that, I think you have a pretty nice case there.

I have an old Adam's case I wouldn't mind having that done to. Its really beat up and I'm sure it could use some revitalization. Wish someone can do this locally in Los Angeles.
 
I think thats a pretty difficult restoration. The wood end caps look good and the latch is unique. And pretty decent that the flea market price was $2.
Great job. I wouldn't have tackled it.

Thanks. I like that latch. I took it off of a silver camera style box.
