Barry Szamboti cue deal through Chenz gone bad

This whole thing sucks......too bad this was shoved to this forum instead of where it started in the forsale section because you know what they say ...."DON'T SHIT WHERE YOU EAT" and thats exactely what Chenz has done. It was nice to see it worked out for a few hours but ultimately the cue dealers on this site have probaly done what you believe has happened and told him they have a buyer at a higher price and know your supose to take it up the a$$ instead of making it right. I use to buy some high end cues from reputable guys like Joe V or Big Ken who at the time thought was screwing me but now realize was straight up and never had a problem with them or most of the old time sellers. Its just not fun buying high end cues anymore and I know alot of guys who feel the same. Honor use to mean something. Hope this works out AGAIN

Another thing. When Vinny called me two days ago to work everything out i was so pleased with him that i was going to send him a Carolina custom b/j cue. I told him he could sell it to recoup his money or keep it if he liked it. I have p.m.'s to support this also. He thought that was nice of me and since he needed a b/j cue he would keep it and pay me for the shafts which i commissioned Barry to make for the cue. Yesterday he called with this new story and did not want tha Carolina b/j anymore only the refund or i keep the cue with no compensation from him. I have been told by two other cue dealers which i cannot mention that he has backed out of numerous deals that they know of locally.I'm keeping the cue after my wonderful conversation with Barry Szamboti and i will not go back on my word with Barry that the cue is mine and he's making the shafts for me. Needless to say, two days ago i was under the impression that Vinny was a decent guy. But now i don't think so. Would any of you fellow AZ'ers feel confortable dealing with someone who goes back on his word?
As for me, i would be careful not to travel this road again. Bob

It doesn't matter that Vinny and Doug did not disclose the oddball shafts because i got lucky in the respect that the cue turned out to be made by Barry's father Gus Szamboti. Doug called me to say that i am doing something wrong by sticking to the original agreement. Well he was told what the cue turned out to be and i think was behind Vinny's decision.
Doug says because i got lucky now honoring the deal doesn't matter any more. What a jack a$$ he is. He said i slandered him when in fact the truth is making him irate., Bob

After my wonderful conversation with Barry i am honored that he is making the shafts for his father's cue. We are lucky to have had such fine American craftsmen such as Gus, Art and Barry.

Moral of the story.. buy from someone that don't know a thing because you might hit a homerun....

Obviously there is a new list of dealers that you don't go to for an authentification of any sort...

That surely is true!
After the cue turned out to be a Gus am i still owed the cost of two used Szam shafts approx. $550.00 shipping included?
If it had turned out to be a good counterfeit i'm sure they would be ducking to try not to give any refund.
What do you think?

At this point, he has not only misrepresented the origins of the shafts, but the cuemaker as well. Lucky for you, it was in your benifit this time. I'd let it go.

I'd still want everyone to know that the guy you bought it from is NOT an honest seller. For my part, I'd NEVER buy a cue from him. There aren't too mnay guys who sell really high end cues that I'd do business with. He's one less.

His word is no good. Everyone should know it.

You are probably right that i should let it go, but these high rollers must be held accountable for their actions. People can and do business with me on only a hand shake and my word. I've NEVER had a problem in 50 years that i know. Dennis, Tim, Mike, etc. will vouch for me. If it was the other way around, i would be chasing them down to make everything right. Everyone that knows me will tell you that.

Give me a break Bob. I'm no high roller and never claimed to be. All I did was help YOU and a friend get together on a cue that you wanted. I had no knowledge of anything wrong with the cue. I said from the start for you to send the cue to Barry for authentication and then if there was a problem that we would work it out. You know that I did not own this cue when you agreed to purchase it but think that I should pay you $600 for new shafts.
The previous owner has offered me the money to refund the cue back from you which you have refused, and this was BEFORE you found out from Barry that it is a Gus and not a Barry. Funny how you wanted a refund until you found out the true maker, which you did not ever mention to me. It's simple, If you are unhappy with the deal in any way, then send the cue back for a full refund plus your expenses as I've already offered, if not, be happy with your new cue. I know that Barry does'nt appreciate your tactics nor do anyone else who know the real story here. Enough Bob!

Vinny, there was no option to get a refund because you or Chris had no money.
The refund offer came only after Doug and you found out it was a Gus hoppe.
After you agreed to pay for shafts i offered to send you the Carolina custom j/b with three shafts as a gift to sell for money toward the cost of shafts or keep if you liked it. You said that you needed one and would keep it but could not come up with the shaft money until the end of October (maybe sooner) i said that is fine with me, it's a deal.
Your pals refund offer after you backing out only shows everyone both of your colors.
Thanks for removing all doubt as to who offered the refund. It was the high roller as was suspected.
If you guys do decide on the cost of shafts,just send it to Barry NOT FOR SHAFTS FOR ME but to give to Art Contando's family with all of our condolences. From that gift maybe both of your spirits can heal.

Bob, you are a liar and your extortion will not work with me. You threatened to go public with this if I did'nt pay for shafts made for a cue that was'nt even mine, and you have. You're the one who's colors are showing here.
You have no idea of the funds available in my acc. or my friend Chris, how could you? And if you mean that Doug is the "high-roller" as you keep saying that offered money for a refund you are completly and dead wrong again.
I have tried with you for weeks and am sick of your harrassment. You know I have always been honest with you and even tracked down your stolen Scruggs shafts when I did'nt even know who you were based on a phone call.
I never asked for nor wanted your Carolina cue so don't even try that one.
Look within Mr. Corcoran and maybe your spirit will do a little healing. This is my final post to you.
 
It would seem to me that the OP will not be satisfied no matter what Vinny does. He offered a full refund, and the OP rejected it , but still continues to complain.

You have a choice, either be happy with your cue, or accept a full refund as offered, but either way, quit beating a dead horse if you are willing to do neither. I get the impression you are out to try and ruin a good man's reputation, and it won't happen, despite your best efforts. Vinny has nothing but great deals with a lot of members here, and I would not hesitate to deal with Vinny again.

Vinny is also a friend of mine and I will vouch for him to whoever asks. I do not understand this constant haranguing by Bob. Vinny never profited from this deal and Bob made out more than he could have ever imagined.

Vinny is lying. I have p.m.'s to support that you did not have the $600.00 and you p.m.'ed me your work address to send the Carolina b/j cue to you, it's still packed in the shipping tube. I will not post again on this thread to comment or rebut. It's gone on long enough.
Tommy is a good guy but just plain wrong.

I hate to hijack this thread, i have no real place even posting here. I'm gonna anyway.

I find it amazing Dennis has all this time to help with this process, but cant return an email, a private post, or a phone call for the last 4 months regarding a cue of mine he has had since 2003. He has promised me on three occasions the cue would be done within months since 2005. He wont return any communications.

Just some thing i need to get off my chest. Hope all goes well with this cue. Sounds ike its an amazing find.

Anyone want to tell Dennis about my post. Please do so. He has my number.
