Getting ready to inlay this one. The pieces are taking a while to make. The bottom photo is a test of one of the inlays. The inlay has a .010" Ebony Border around a .020" Ivory Spear with an Abalone Center. There's a little more going into the cue as well.

Yes, spoken for. This one is mine. Tony has been great to work with, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the end result. Looks beautiful so far, and it's got a unique - 1st time done - twist coming that I think will be awesome. Tony's work is really going thru the roof.
Thanks for posting pic's, Tony!!
Very exciting...

Opinion

Well you didnt ask but will give my opinion.

I wouldnt add inlays or other things on this cue. The wood and veneers are excellent.

Adding anything will take away from cue. If you have "busy" or interesting wood let the wood tell the story. If the cue has "planer" wood then maybe.

I was at the Midwest cue show this weekend and had so many people tell me they liked my cues as they were simpler.

Just my 2 cents,

Ken

Opinion noted & appreciated, Ken. We already have plans for this cue, and I'm sure I'll be happy with it. I can also appreciate cues that are unadorned - it just so happens I/we have other plans for this one. Thanks for the comments about the wood & veneer combo - They were my choice. I was itching to put this combination together, and when I saw a coco/amboyna cue that Tony had made some time ago (and researched the other work he was doing & the input he was receiving) - I knew I'd identified the maker. Initially, I hadn't planned to add inlays, but Tony's acumen has progressed so rapidly, to such a high level, that I felt comfortable in the addition of some design & material elements that I'm fond of (and, of course, Tony helped w/ technical details on the inlays). Give a good cue maker a chance to do what he's good at, and feels good about... He's bound to please you.

It's a cocobolo forearm w/ amboyna points & butt, Dave.

I might add that Tony is rather allergic to cocobolo, but was kind enough to do this for me. He seems very much in tune with the precautions required for him to work with coco, and he can only spend so much time on it at once. All things considered, I wouldn't be surprised to see Tony stop using coco.

i really prefer this ring work to your normal style of rings,, your standard rings almost distract me form the rest of the cue cant see the forest for the trees kinda thing.
great looking cue cant wait to see it with the inlays.

I thought you didn't play pool anymore.

I don't! But I still LOVE cues! And I'd be willing to bet that something like this looks a LOT better in my hands than it does on my laptop!

Nice work you are putting out these days! This cue is gonna be gorgeous!

I appreciate the nice comments, as I'm sure Tony does. He certainly deserves high praise for the work he's doing.

Tony,
Wonderful looking cue. I really like the color combination of this cue and these rings really compliment this cue fantastic. Nice job and cannot wait to see it finished.
All the best,
Tom

I don't know how the hell I missed this thread....but OMG!!!! I friggin' LOVE those rings!! The inlay really 'pops' against the color of the amboyna...very nice indeed.......I 'get' it now!! :bow-down::smilewinkgrin:

I also really like the piece of coco you used for the nose...the straighter grain makes for a nice canvas for those veneers...those are cool.

That's gonna be a really good looking cue...congrats to the owner and kudos to the maker!

Lisa

Bumpin' Tony's great work. (Also don't wanna have to search for this...selfish & excited - sorry.) Hope we'll see updated and/or finished pic's in next week or so...
