There's been some good threads on this in the past, just search for Boston. If you can't get out of the city, Jillians is probably your best bet. They just recovered their tables with Simonis (although it's red). The ball's aren't great, but their serviceable. The only other places in the city are Felt in the Theater district, King's in Back Bay by the Prudential Ctr and Boston Beer Works by North Station. There's no real players halls though.

o yeah, the word is that they( pool players in boston)steal your posted money . just ask lil john. $18000.00 just disappeared.

That happened ~4 years ago between lil' john and Tony and was supposedly settled between them; but thanks for the generalization though.

There really isn't anywhere decent to play in the city, although as someone said, Jillian's does have Simonis on some of their tables now, but the pockets are still too big. If you're looking for decent tables and MAYBE some action, your best bets are outside of the city, at World Class Billiards in Peabody and Country Club USA in Chelmsford. Someone definitely needs to open a real pool hall in or near Boston, but I think the rent is generally too high to do that...

your welcome.its just when i hear the word "boston "and "pool" together. i think of thieves...

?

sorry kiss, truth hurts.... i mean i would'nt have brought it up.....but its a true story....

its a rumor really.

The truth is no one really knows what happened to the post money except for a few people that were there.

I had a laundry list of snappy come backs and put downs for you but i chose not to go there. I am from Boston and we are not thieves.. We are good people just like any where else. Don't make generalizations because one guy is a scum bag ( which he is and I can verify that for you)..

In answer to the OP question there is no longer a players room in Boston, just some clubs or bars that have tables. The pool scene is dead

Whats the name of the hall right by Fenway? I played there and made a small score about 2 years ago.

Jillian's was right in the alley behind the green monster. I went there about 10 years ago and the tables were OK. It's not a players room, mostly college kids.

is there anywhere in boston to play/hit some balls?

Google Maps is a good start, but some listings won't be up to date.

I would second the recommendation to visit World Class Billiards in Peabody (4 carom tables + plenty of 9-footers) and Country Club in Chelmsford. If you venture farther north on 3 you'll find Maxamillians in Tyngsboro, MA and Boston Billiards in Nashua, NH.

There are places to play in Boston that you can access using the T or the bus system, but if you go to Felt (near Boston Common) or Flat Top Johnny's (Kendall Square).

Note: The pool room in Sacco's Bowl Haven is gone, though judging from the crowd on Super Bowl Sunday (7 Feb 2010) bowling is still popular. A restaurant will be opening up in the pool room.

I heard that the administrator for Onepocket.org lives in New Hampshire, so you might check out that site's forum if you're looking for someone to play One Pocket:

If you play 3-cushion then you can find tournaments at World Class in Peabody and at Cue and Cushion in Hooksett, NH near Manchester. There's also a hardly used 3-cushion table in Keene, NH.

If you're looking outside of Boston you might also scan through the list on the following site, but it hasn't been updated and a number of rooms are closed:
http://www.billiardscoop.com/billiard-rooms.asp?s=ma

Closed: all Boston Billiards locations except for the two in Nashua,NH and Worcester, MA; Good Time Emporium in Somerville; and Renaissance in Quincy.
