Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I'll be biting my tongue for the moment about what happened til i talk to jamie and get exact details on a couple things i heard while at dogs at 3 am last night. For now lets just say thats not the whole story. -- weird.

Wouldn't be the first time story came back 50%. I remember there was an email I got at work about how when you're young and in school recess is the most important class. Google is not helping me right now. I think the moral of it was to fight nice.

I can't think of a better place for this quote:

"There are always three sides to every story...."

I'm interested on what happened myself...only thing I heard really was they were trading wins in 9 ball and broke even on the races to 3 in one hole. I imagine Jody got 9-7 or something unless he played even which I doubt.

Will be on the lookout for more info I guess.

Go Earl, Lil Keith, Sammy, Mike D. and let's hope Archer gets back on track. I'll have the accustats for the end of the week and finals for sure.

Ok, they played race to 7 - 9 ball and jody ended up winning 4 of 7 (i think) to be one up. Then after Jody's lessons he came back and they played two 1pkt sets race to 3(even) for $50. <-- this is all Jody would play after saying he'd play $50 a game. Jody won the first set and Jamie won the second.

Jody then says hes got to go to work at 9, its about 8:30ish. Jamie says how so, you never have to go to work til 10/11 any other night? He then asked Jody to play 1 more set of 9 since Jody was up a set and Jamie wanted a shot to get even. Jody said no and said some others things along the lines of why would jamie want to lose another set and Jamie can't win any game.

Jamie also asked why Jody believes a short race proves anything about "whos the best". Jamie said nothing about the ammount of money, just how come these races to 7 or 3 and no ahead sets when clearly people are aware that ahead sets are much tougher to win.

Little speculating on my part says, this was the easiest way to "book a winner".

They were supposed to start sometime around 3 today. I have no updates as i am home for the night.

By Jody’s Memory he won two sets of Bar Table 9-Ball by a score of 7-3. Jody was ahead 6-4 in another set, missed an 8 Ball and Jamie got out and proceeded to run out the set from there.

At that point he had a lesson(who takes lessons from a non instructor or non world beater?) which took up about an hour’s time. Then the tournament started and combined with league there were no more open Diamonds and Jody didn’t want to play on a Valley so they decided to play one hole instead.

Jamie asked Jody to play EVEN one hole and Jody agreed because he was up a set. Jody said he played good and won 3-0 the first set. Then the second set Jamie played good and won 3-1. Jody has been loser at getting 9-7 since they started playing so to play even is pretty strong. Anyway it was quarter til 9 so Jody couldn’t play anymore before he had to work. Jamie still wanted to keep playing, not totally clear on if he knew Jody had to work or not.

Overall Jody wins 9 ball 20-13 and 1 hole 4-3. Pretty sure Jody shouldn’t try that 1 hole part like that again, could hurt the wallet a bit. Probably perfect timing to try an even game of 1 pkt since it was essentially a free shot and he said he was feeling pretty good. Jody is at the pool hall now so maybe those two will continue on today. Sounds like I missed some tough run outs yesterday, won’t be there again today. Good to hear them playing again at least.

It’s pretty much official now so I can say what Jason and I were talking about. We were gonna get our teams together and play some $100/man race to 13 8-Ball BCA format. His team agreed in a flash of a fart. My team has too many things going on between family, holidays, taxes, free cash, wanting to make rules on the trash talk etc etc. I just looked at it like it’s a good time for practice and some competition. Unfortunately based on the past it goes a little deeper than that in some instances so it’s not gonna work out. Maybe another team will step up to the plate and play or after the new year we will be ready to go.

Neo, needs a haircut...the mohawk was pretty high up from what I saw on Monday distracting to both teams. No wonder his opponents broke and ran on him twice....keep him off the table. Let me know how round two goes tonight if it happens.

LOL I agree his hair looks kinda like Goku on Dragonball Z right now.

Dude aim higher than getting the 5 for life, just play Jody and I'm sure you can get the 4 for life as well. He's a giver like that.

His team agreed in a flash of a fart. My team Didn't.
-- fixed :)

Would have been fun. We didn't actually talk about details, but race to 13 bca would have been fine also as thats what i was thinking about.

Also they played more than 3 sets last night. they'd played 4 before i left or were just in their 5th so maybe thats all they played. Which could make sense. The last time jamie gave jody 9-7 jody ended up 4 game winner after a few hours. No idea what or how they are playing tonight, haven't heard any details.

And if you ask Jody, Jamies never won anything besides the 10 ahead set in which he got lucky.

Just wanted to clear that up.

I think it's gonna be mum pool tonite! Sounds like they both spouted off enough to piss each other off...i have to drop a deuce peace!

Jamie vs Jody

So why aren't they playin another 10 ahead set instead of this $50 a game or $50 a set stuff?? Short sets prove nothing. They favor the weaker player! They should play an ahead set in 9-ball and in 1-hole.

Seems noone remembers the short 9 ball races, good for TV quote.

Jody did talk about trying to set up some kind of an all around challenge (for everybody) Tournament. I gave him my opinions because i think it would be cool.

First of all I don't think an all around tournament would be cool, it would just take long and be ass. Second races do favor Jody. He's better with a definitive finish line.

Jody's thing is he wants to bet his own money and he wants Jamie to bet his own money too. So there would need to be quite a bit of side action to make an ahead set worth it to play because the bet in the middle would only be for a few hundred. Jody might play like that. It's obviously a really close game under the day to day circumstance.

Whoever thinks races don't mean anything, that's BS. Make the races longer then. Ahead sets can play boring or get out of control pretty quick. Let them race to 15 and double the bet or something reasonable. I think everyone expected Jody to be able to keep it closer if they play more. There's not a huge gap between the two.

Jody has about as much experience at one hole as Jamie does with big table 9 ball. The best game for them is Bar table 9 ball. The thing of it all is this in a nutshell. If you add up the sets they played yesterday Jamie would have lost an ahead set, instead he was only down 1 set for $50. I think a lot of people want to root against Jody and not give him credit, but I also think people know that out of the people who regularly play you hate to draw him in a tourney. In fact he averages a win for the year in the Sunday tourney, thats a pretty good feat.

Others have there own accomplishments but I dont think anyone is as consistently under rated as Jody is. He's arrogant and unbearable sometimes, but he plays great. No one takes anything away from Don M. and in the last 2 weeks hes played more than all year I think but people respect him. Jason Chance same kind of deal he plays super and no one ever doubts him. Jamie gets a ton of respect, Athens rarely doubted but sometimes, but other than Phil no one gets less respect than Jody.

I'm just sayin!

hey frost

the poolroom is doing bad danny is thinking bout making it a dance club i might go to truck driving school so I may make it up to iowa one day this is antonio

I hate to do this to you, but something about "you started it kind of comes to mind".

Point #1 REPLY. Jody wants to bet small so theres no pressure + hes not rich (thats not an insult, its tough for alot of us right now). But honestly if Jamie or Jody were to win 200-300 (own money) from the other. These sets would be all done.

Point #2 REPLY. The arguement is small races don't have anything to do with skill(equal level players mind you), just who runs good that set. Tournaments are small races so they get done fast. <-- fact.

Point #3 REPLY. Woof Woof. Whenever someone/anyone wants to post up a $1,000 for him again, Jamie will have his. side note: the last time they played JODY bet ZERO of his own money. Jamie bet $250 of his. Guess that whole dogs it for his own arguement goes to shit now. Infact Jamie bet some of his own money in all the those ahead sets he played this summer.

Point #4 REPLY. blah blah blah $15 tournament blah blah blah. note: 2 of the 5 best players in town dont play jamie is 50% .... need i go on ? I've knocked Jody out of the tournament, guess ima world beater too.

Topic change.I would think your guys would love to have a shot and snapping us off for $500. I think it shows alot of heart from you that you even offered the game up.

WTF, I called him just now, guess he isn't up. Danny is my man and a good personal friend. The place was packed all the time, now it's struggling??? What the hell happened when I left? That was an action house for sure only place I ever been where you could win money like that. Where are Kenny P., Red, Randy, and all the rest of the guys that would bet whatever you could come up with day in and day out. That's when gambling was gambling.

If it closes I'm flying back for one last hurrah!

A $15 tournament gets that guy an extra $10k over the course of a year, not bad imo.

What's the game count on all the races put together so far? Jody thinks he's around 12 ahead(guess) over 2 days. If he was smart he should play ahead sets as well. They can keep doing what they do, it all falls under the trading cash theory I have anyway which is why I dont care to gamble a red cent around here anymore. Action is too brutal and you have to fade way more than you ever should in a game of pool.

Nighty night
